This 1 word impacted me the most in 2023.
Every time the end of the year comes along, I am so hopeful for the upcoming year.
Call me an optimist, but I always think the new year is going to bring new exciting experiences, challenges, and goals to beat.
But I’m like most people. I think of a few resolutions I’d like to start and keep in the new year. Then…I let them fall by the wayside never to be thought of again.
This year was a bit different.
It started off in the same way, but I ended it with a bang.
And it’s all due to one simple word. A word I used to scoff at. (Joke’s on me. This word makes all the difference between success and failure.)
Consistency.
It wasn’t until the end of the year when I had two goals to accomplish, both of them requiring consistency to complete:
- A 12-week calorie counting challenge.
- Blogging (almost) every day on Medium.
What happened when I was finally consistent with my goals?
- I surpassed my 5-pound weight loss goal by one pound.
- I‘ve already more than passed my goal of doubling my Medium earnings from last month (and the month is only half over at the time of this writing).
What word do you think I’ll focus on in the new year?
Yup, you guessed it.
It’ll be consistency again.
Because consistency works!

Love this post Christina, "consistency" is something that is built into my adjust genetic make-up at this point. Keep pushing, irrespective of the moment looking towards the bigger picture. Something that I feel few people can do, but those that do are going to reap a high level of acomplishment irrespective of what they do.

Consistency is something I've never been good at. But now that I've been focused on it, good things have been happening. Weird, right?

That's an excellent word to focus on...it's a quality it would behoove us all to develop. Along with consistency can go persistence. Even when times are tough, don't give up, but keep on comng back for more. We'll overcome that next obstacle!
