Why The Terrorists Will NEVER Win.

I

We have all been horrified by the terrorist bomb attack in Manchester earlier this week on many of the youngest and most vulnerable of our society. Words are inadequate to express our feelings of revulsion.

But what these vile indoctrinated people completely fail to understand is that they can NEVER and will NEVER succeed in their warped aims, if they even know what those are.

Because in fact what they achieve is not the destruction of our society, but rather the strengthening and unifying of the very fabric of society that they are seeking to undermine.

They have no concept of true humanity, and of the essential goodness and kindness of all right-minded people.

We are hearing so many stories of the wonderful empathy and kindness of many hundreds, if not thousands of ordinary people during the crisis.

There is the homeless man, Chris Parker, who when he saw so many terrified people running out of the Arena, went INTO it and did everything he could to help the people suffering in there.

Then there was another man who was quite seriously injured with I believe a hole in his foot and whose wife had already been taken to hospital, who insisted on remaining with a frightened young girl until she could be re-united with her mother, and refused to get the treatment he himself very much needed.

Taxi drivers from all over the north of England drove many miles to Manchester in order to take survivors back to their homes, and refused any payment for their services.

Hotels opened their doors to children who could not find their parents and helped them to contact them. Food outlets provided food and drink to all involved, whether helpers or victims, and also took refreshments into hospitals for the staff who had rushed in to help with no thought for bringing food or drink with them.

Many, many people have contributed money to help the situation in general, and to individuals, such as the two young sisters whose parents were waiting for them in the foyer and were killed by the bomb, so very sad. And many people also want to help the homeless man to rebuild his life.

Those are just a very few instances from the many hundreds if not thousands of people who did their very best to help in an appalling situation. And we must not forget members of the Emergency services and Hospital Staff who gave their services tirelessly.

So very many people reacting instinctively to the needs of others, without considering there could be a risk to their own lives.

Thousands of people, both Manchester residents and people who had travelled hundreds of miles, have attended vigils in memory of the victims.

That is what the instigators of these horrors will never understand, and why they will NEVER win - the spirit of goodness and charity will always defeat their evil designs.

Those of us who have the good fortune never to have lost a beloved child or parent in such circumstances can only imagine the heartbreak of those who have, and I hope that it can bring some little comfort to them to know that so many people throughout the world are thinking of them and praying for them.

Looking at all of the many people who helped and were helped, I completely understand when President Trump called the bomber(s) and all of their ilk: Losers

Chrissie......yes, there are hero's in the smoke every time a terrorist event happens and your reports of them in Manchester are very inspiring and heartfelt. Thank you for you beautiful post.

But unfortunately, they are becoming the norm now, which I think is the real worrisome force. And until our borders are secured, it will continue. In the mind of the terrorist organization, and locally the radicalized person wearing the suicide bomb vest, they win the second the bomb goes off.....that's their victory, their win. Our hero's that step into the aftermath.....i.e the homeless man in Manchester........are of little concern to them.

I really don't know what's going to stop all of it, Chrissie. That's the frustrating part because I don't think anyone does at this point. But I can't help but think that safe and secure borders, are anything but a step in the right direction. If we make it difficult and complicated through proper vetting techniques, for them to even enter our Countries, maybe we can begin to diminish the occurrences.

You are quite right Wayne, tho sadly the Manchester bomber war born and grew up in Manchester tho spent some time in Libya.

I know........read that this morning. He was radicalized there. Same thing is going on here in the U.S. But once they leave and attempt to come back, we need to examine i and assume the worstt. Maybe the new anti-terrorism set-up in Saudi Arabia will begin to have a good effect. God, I hope so.

Me too

Thank you, Chrissie, heartwarming post. In deep distress, human surprises others and often themselves.

Very true Loes, many thanks

With corrective technology better communication and education, better friendship and bonding and economic self improvement that takes away a need to lash out, terrorism dies out like a fire with no fuel. A universal law that has ALWAYS delivered!

I trust you are right Michael :)

Right on, Chrissie!

Very inspiring post, Chrissie. Still, in a better world, kids as young as 8-years old as well as parents going to pick up their children at a concert would not be the victim of senseless attacks and killed by deranged individuals who have zero regard for human life.

Sadly, you are quite right Jeff.

Such a wonderful post. Thank you.

No problem Stan :)

What a heart felt post and a wonderful tribute Chrissie your words convey so much shared sentiment. Thank you.

You are so welcome Alexander.

Every tragedy brings out the human will to love and support one another.

It is sad that it takes a tragedy for us to reach out to strangers who really are just flesh and blood like us.

I agree that our capacity for love and acceptance far surpasses the evil that has been lodged in some people's hearts.

The silent majority, everyone who loves and care for others, needs to become the ruling body for acceptable behaviour. Until that happens, the disturbed minority, will believe they are more powerful.

We outnumber them.

We need to be more pro active verses reactive.

It is a whole world issue.

Thank you for voicing your belief. I am on your team!

Susan

Awesome response, Susan!

Thank you so much for your comment Susan :)

Chrissie, thank you for speaking out so eloquently. You are right they will not succeed... as when such terrible things happen, thank goodness we see the best in humanity also. Sue :)

Absolutely Sue
