Today I'm Struggling.

This is my first blog post at WA. I've been just over 3 months, I know right? That's the typical time when people hit a wall and start to feel frustrated.

For the past two years I have tried to think about how to establish an online business. I wanted to be independent, have something I could call my own, be my own boss, and make a higher income that I ever could earn with an average job.

Coming across WA and affiliate marketing gave me a new hope. It made me realise I could turn my passion of music, and expertise in audio production into a business; having struggled to find a career in such a competitive field, despite having the education and work experience.

But now what? I’m sitting here, feeling isolated, alone, staring at the screen everyday trying to write articles. I’ve barely just begun but I’m really struggling. I’ve written 4 articles so far, now number 5. It certainly doesn’t feel like I’m beginning to live my dream.

I’m writing about audio software, trying to help beginners, but it’s tedious; reading, writing, researching, writing, formatting, finding images. It’s particular tedious because I feel I will be doing this months or maybe even years without seeing any result. What it’s all for nothing? Am I wasting my time? Can I actually do this, and stay focussed and enthusiastic, if I’m struggling already? Writing about the best ‘insert audio gear here’ is pretty boring actually.

The business I had in mind would also include a YouTube channel, helping people with buying gear, reviewing gear, comparing gear, giving tips and tricks. Maybe if I started to acquire a following, I would feel more inspired? It would at least be more fun, making interactive and informative videos, instead of just reading and writing all day…

It is tough, working alone all the time, I’ve been doing that for years. It doesn’t get easier. With covid there is an added element to that right now, but even without covid I would still be in the same situation.

I’m tired today, I didn’t sleep well. I guess that doesn’t help. I just wonder if I’m doing the right thing after all, if I can stick at it, and if it will be worth it in the long run. Am I wasting my time? That same question comes back to me, but I thought this is what I wanted.

I hope reading this post doesn’t make anyone else feel the same way. I just had to express it somehow, and I have been meaning to make my first blog post. It’s good to be open and honest, and to talk about the tough times, as well as the good.

That’s all for now. I would love to get your thoughts on the kind of ups and downs you get, and how to you deal with those downs?

I've had thoughts like that sometimes, and I've been around for two months now. Sometimes I get really excited, then I lose enthusiasm for something.

But I am not going to quit ever, this opportunity is priceless.

I have on my website in two months now Privacy Policy, Affiliate Disclosure, About Me, Wa Review, Two Blog Posts.

You're a premium member and now look at these Classes, Jay.
7 Days an Affiliate: Daily Task Breakdown, that's 2017 year.

The above Classes is that webinar.

That's Where Jay Neill teaches you exactly what to do in a week, those tasks are done by simplifying things.

Hope this helps.

Timo

Small steps daily and after a year look how much you will have accomplished, Chris!

Jeff

Thank you, I hope so.

You're welcome and I know so!

Jeff

Its perfectly natural Chris so give yourself a break... we all have a wobble and the good news we are learning and resisting which generally means we are on the right track. I wrote about having a wobble here: You will probably find it comes up a lot until you get a routine going then focus on the rest of the business. Its called being human.

I know one thing that helped me was to use jaaxy and alphabet soup to get ideas and also "ask the public" site which is another good site for ideas. Then I would write a planning diary for my articles. That seemed to get some order.

Good luck, Phil

Thanks Phil

Hi Chris,

As Murray says, it must be a "Scottish thing" LOL.

I jest, my dad was from Glasgow.

The issue here Chris, as far as I can tell, is that you have a passion that is based around "Audio" and "Visual" and yet you are not using these methods to your advantage.

The main concept behind Wealthy Affiliate is Blogging and SEO.

This involves writing a LOT (I will usually write around 130-150 articles for a site before I decide whether it's worth pursuing or not), and SEO requires time (it typically takes around 8-9 months for an article to "settle" into it's place in the search engines, such as Google).

However, this is simply ONE WAY to earn a living online.

As I say, this is what we are mainly taught at WA through the OEC training, but don't forget as a Premium Member you have access to 1000s of other training modules too.

Just type in whatever you want to learn about by using the search menu.

I'm worried that you're going to take your passion and start hating it because you are being "forced" to write about it.

I would say music and audio software is very much a "visual" and "audio" thing.

You can do some great tutorials via video.

You may even want to go the audio route and produce podcasts and just talk.

Two of the best members to follow re videos are:

Roope - https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/roopekiuttu

AND

Grace - https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/littlemama

Visit their profiles. Go to their YouTube and TikTok channels.

Read all their blog posts here at WA (well some, as they have 100s between them), and reignite that passion.

You can still keep the website and add your videos or podcast to them as new posts, etc.

Just remember there are many, many ways to make a living rather than just writing all the time.

Partha

That's true, thank you.

Howzit Chris,
I am also from Scotland Arbroath to be precise, and I too have had this issue of writing content, in fact another Scot Rab(b42old) had the same issue, must be a Scottish thing.
I know where your coming from I have just finished writing a Review, and I am into the next Training Module and quess what, YES I have to write another load of Content.
So to get my head into gear what do I do I head off into another part of WA and see what I can learn or help someone, so it lead me to this comment.
So two things have happen here I am WRITING to you to tell you that it happens to all of us, so remember you have already written 4 Articles, so you can do a 5th, 6th and as they say Practise makes perfect , but nobody knows how long you have to practise.
Chris a bit of a Ramble, but if stuck , just take a Break.
All the Best
Keep in Touch
Cheers
Murray

Thank you Murray, great to hear from another Scot. I'm from Stirling. I guess this feeling will pass, I'm just worried about if I'm wasting my time. Guess life is full of risks though, right? How is your business venture going so far?

Howzit Chris,
I started about 4 months ago with WA so, it's a matter of doing the Training(Writing Content) but I really enjoy it learning new skills etc. The community is Great always willing to help. Like everything just takes time. I think you have a Good Niche with your Music/audio background expertise , you have a good spread to drill down within the Niche. Let me know how you getting on.

Chheers
Murray

Sorry forgot to mention thanks for following me Back.
