Yes. You read that right!

Neil Patel's traffic dropped and his expectation is that it may drop some more after the July 2021 part 2 core update.

Why should that bother you?

Well, apart from being a dominant authority who the world listens to, he is a Content & Affiliate Marketer, like you and me. A slight drop in traffic for Neil is equal to thousands, if not millions, of dollars.

He takes notice and so should you. We are building businesses after all, right?

Just Give Searchers What They Want

As I read his blog post in which he shared his learnings, I could not help but see our very own Prince Partha staring me in the face and saying:

"SEE!! I told ya!"

And Partha did say the exact same thing in this post right here, followed up with a part 2 which you can read here.

Neil shared that his "posts that used storytelling, didn’t do as well."

However, his "clients who didn’t use much storytelling at all, and just gave searchers the answer to their questions (search query), tended to see the rankings hold and even increase slightly."

And in case you did not get that quite yet, Neil gave it the final stab by saying:

"And the sites that started ranking above me in many cases were just writing ordinary content (still well written and high quality) also didn’t leverage infographics or video or much storytelling…"

"they just gave the searchers the answer to their question faster than me."

Kyle Shared His Perspectives Today

This morning, while stalking Live Chat, I noticed that Kyle's entry thread went like this:

Once again, this is a reminder to focus on your visitors, your searchers and provide them with the most relevant and timely responses that you can.

If you place yourself in the role of Searcher, you will be reminded that most Searchers have a basic knowledge of their subject and they are looking for a quick and DIRECT response to take action, almost immediately.

No fluff!

Simple, plain language.

What Should You Do?

You should you what Kyle says:

Take some time to remove the fluff, get to the point and give your Searchers EXACTLY what they want.

Your User Experience (UX) will improve and your traffic will head in the right direction.

If in doubt, just ask Lisa. She took Partha's advice and she's nailing it!!

Way to go, Lisa!!!!

Fact and answers will always be key, and Partha's updates have been excellent. I also think that there is a danger that our blogs become just the same as the next persons. We will be talking about the power of genuine personality three months from now. Let's hope we don't forget to have some in the race. Great update as ever. Phil

I agree with you, totally, Phil.

Prince Partha continues to provide us with some remarkable blog posts that are providing great results.

My apologies for taking so long to reply.

Good post, though I am not sure i agree fully with Alex. Neil Patel does operate in a different galaxy to most of us, but her got there by sheer damn hard work probably, aided by a team who help him.We can all achieve the same, most of us do on a pro rata basis, given we are individuals producing the same type of content.

He did work hard to gain the success and recognition that he has, Dave.

His businesses have been built from the ground up and I deeply respect and admire him for that.

I value his experience.

Thank you for sharing.

Glad it helped Cassi

It sure did, Dave.

I don't know, Neil Patel and Kyle Loudon trying to steal my thunder.

Who do they think they are? Hahahaha

Basic rule of any business, online or offline, give the people what they actually want, not what you think they want.

Plus Cassi, you know me well enough to know I'd never gloat.

Partha

p.s. "SEE, I TOLD YA" (Hahaha)

I have been waiting patiently for you to chime in, Prince Partha.

Yep!
You told us. 🙂

Cassi

Hahaha.

Had to do my "90%" of work first today, as I chose to have a day off yesterday and do some gardening in London's fine and melting tropical climate. LOL

Partha

Yeah.
How did that go?

How many beers and pizza later before you finished?
Did you finish? (hee hee)

Cassi

Oh yes, all done. 4 hours of gardening and not a single beer or pizza was consumed before, during, or after the event.

However, with Euro 2020 (I know it's 2021, but it was postponed) fast approaching I'm not sure I'll be able to say the same over the next 5 weeks. Hahaha

It is rugby season for me. 🍺🍷🍻🍺

Full on!!

Neil Patel operates in another galaxy altogether, and like our universe's he works and we work very hard to develop and maintain positions.

The take home for me is that he continues to deliver exception value, the post reflecting on the lost of traffic, reflects that stance.

Observing, it appears that rejuvenating content may be the way to keep well crafted content relavent.

Relavency is the new King.

Relavency converts.

Relavency sells.

It rails back, Google likes long form, the majority consume content via mobile and skim the content consumed. We all want the punchline to hell with the joke. The elephant in the room is how do we define fluff and is that the same definition applied by Google. Their approach is becoming fractured.

Creating formulized content as prescribed in the training here in the WA platform can provide a connection to that evergreen content paridise.

Alex, so very well shared.

Our WA training sets us up with the foundation to make the most of all Google's opportunities.
We must, however, stay relevant.

Thank you for sharing.

I saw the email from Neil but as of yet, I have not read it.

I like Neils' content, but I find sometimes his sites have a "corporate" feel to them. They do not feel personal to me.

Give the people what they want, as succinctly as possible. Google seems to reward that.

I try my best to focus on the message, Alex, leaving any emotive attachment to the messenger behind.

While his messages do have a "corporate feel" he appeals to my vision and the business that I am building and serving.
He does a lot of research and grunge work and I am happy to benefit from that. 🙂

Yes, Google knows what it wants and has no problem adjusting to get it.

Have a great day!

Cassi

Very true, there is a lot of information available on Neils' sites.
I have made use of his sites and emails before, so I do use his materials.

He has done well.

He has done really well, Alex.

I do admire what he has done with his businesses and how he shares so much of his experiences.
Quite a few of his tips that I have implemented have helped me and my clients.
