14K This Weekend - Success Breeds Success

Last week was one of my most successful weeks at Wealthy Affiliate (WA). The highlight of my success was my completion of the Online Entrepreneur Certification Course on Thursday 16 July 2020.

I now feel that I have earned myself more credibility in our Community and the knowledge I need to support my fellow Members. While I have been supporting as best as I can, attaining my Certification has given me an additional sense of confidence and competence.

Celebration Called For Some Stretch

After enjoying a great Chianti on Thursday night and missing my date with Jay on Friday night, I decided to stretch myself some more and do something special to recharge my batteries.

What could be more rewarding than adding a few Ks under my belt?

So, at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, I set out on a 14K Run/Walk over our Northern Range mountains with a group of 20 other adventurers. Our Northern Range is one of the most beautiful in the country and home to our precious watersheds and forest reserves.

I consider it to be sacred and I am blessed to call it my home as we live in and care for these mountains.

While I have continued training at the gym, an endurance journey like this calls for very different muscles and skills. I have not been running much but I was cycling about 20K a day for the past 2 weeks.

My lung capacity was reduced from not swimming as regularly because of COVID-19 confinement but I wanted to stretch myself and get a feel for where my body and mind were currently positioned.

It was the only way to know how much work I needed to do to get back to the level of fitness I was accustomed to.

An Inspiring Journey

The views along our North Coast Road to Maracas Bay are magnificent and inspiring. At the beginning I thought that I may have struggled or lagged along the journey but, I surprised myself by finishing in the midst of it all.

Although Google Maps gave us a travel time of 3hrs and 27 mins, I completed the journey in 2hrs and 12mins.

Of course, getting to Maracas Bay meant a well-deserved Caribbean Sea swim. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Fit For Success

Success is that much harder of you do not have a fit mind, body and soul.

I have accomplished all my WA goals ahead of target, thus far. The next 5 months are going to require much for strength, persistence, self-confidence and determination.

Just like my 14K on Saturday morning, I cannot give up. I felt exhausted this morning, both physically and mentally but emotionally, I felt on top of the world!

Two awesome accomplishments last week have propelled me into the next phase of my Digital Entrepreneur journey and to say that I am excited would be putting it mildly. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜€

This week, I wish you all much success and, more importantly, I encourage you to invest in becoming fit - mentally, physically and emotionally - to achieve the high level of success you are striving for.

Have a GREAT week!

Hi Cassi,

Some truly breathtaking landscapes you have there. I do love a walk myself, but unfortunately my views are nowhere near as beautiful as these.

Funnily enough, I've always been a walker, but haven't really done many kilometres during lockdown

However, as well as pulling out a couple of home workouts, I've been for some longer walks on Friday, Saturday, and again this morning. Each one was in the 11km-12km range.

I'm also an advocate for healthy mind and body, but boy-o-boy have I missed the gym.

I've made do over the last 4 months with the scarce amount of equipment I have at home, some sprints, some runs, and some walking.

However, my local gym is finally opening up again on Saturday and I cannot wait to grab a barbell once again.

With that said, something tells me that I probably won't be able to walk comfortably or raise my arms above my head on SUnday morning, LOL.

Partha

That is funny, Partha. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I think you will be just fine once you have those barbells in your hand.
I get to the gym at least four times a week but being outdoors is Heaven for me.

The mountains and the sea are where my heart and would belong and I would die without it.

So good to knowthat you enjoy walking also.

Thank you for sharing.
Cassi

The country you live in is very beautiful, Cassi. Thank you for sharing the amazing pictures.
I believe it's our duty to be as fit as possible and although I do not work out as I used to, I walk for minimum one hour every day and do yoga twice a week. Eating healthy (as much as possible) is a must too because otherwise we get nowhere. Mind and body are connected so you are very right that success can be achieved only if we take care of both.

Yes, Lenka, our country is beaitiful, as I am sure yours is as well. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I love the outdoors and think that I was a dolphin in my previous life, so I feel very at home in the sea.

I believe that walking is an excellent mind/body connector and enjoy it immensely.
Have you been practicing yoga for a long time?

Thank you for you support and kind words.
Cassi

I still consider myself a beginner in yoga, Cassi but I love the "emptying" of mind during yoga.
That might be well true, a dolphin is a very intelligent creature. I don't recall any other than human experience from my past lives but who knows? :)

Yes, I do enjoy that aspect of yoga also, Lenka.

Our minds can get so cluttered at times.

Cassi

Hi Cassi, my gosh what a beautiful country you live in. You certainly make good use of your mind and body.
The 14K Saturday is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations. Being physically fit really does put mental abilities at a peak.
A very encouraging and inspiring post.

Wishing you all the best,
Michael

Michael, I do feel very blessed to call Trinidad my home.
It is a beautiful country and I hold our Northern Range to be very sacred and magical.
We spend a lot of time there.

Thank you so very much for all of your support, encouragement and kind sentiments.

You always add much to my bag of motivation. ๐Ÿ˜Š
That is priceless.

Have a GREAT week!
Cassi

Hi Cassi, you are a very special person and it is always a pleasure reading your posts. Your friendship is priceless and I thank you.

Michael

You are very welcome, Michael. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A great summary of your success so far Cassi๐Ÿ˜ŠYou have done very well! Beautiful landscape you have within your reach to recharge your batteries. I am looking forward to follow your continued progress and success the next months.

I agrre with you wholeheartedly that without physical and mental fitness, you prepare to fail to say it bluntly. Taking care of your body and soul during this journey is so important and is often overlooked. Even if people understand this, it is very easy to say, i can do it a bit later. But the investment is returned tenfold if you manage to commit to physical activity several times duing the week.

Have a great week Cassi!

I agree with you 110%, Roy!

We are always inclined to neglect the physical and then wonder why we are not able to sustain the efforts we are trying to put out.
It is VERY important and a major element in my foundation build.

Thank you, as always, for your support and encouragement.
I truly appreciate it.

Have a great week!
Cassi

You are very welcome Cassi๐Ÿ˜Š. You are a great inspiration and source of knowledge to all of us๐Ÿ˜Š.

-Roy-

Thank you very much for those kind sentiments, Roy.
The feeling is mutual. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Cassi

Doing a 14k puts you in a higher bracket straight away and you are so right, there is a direct link between the mind and the body. If we are unfit and full of toxins due to a poor diet, then we can't expect to be mentally agile.
I look forward to the next 5 months and seeing your success, which is inevitable.

Twack, sometimes I think you are more confident than I am. ๐Ÿค”
I REALLY appreciate your support and encouragement.

You are so correct about the toxins.
After a push like that, I also do a steam and exfoliation to remove all the toxins that may have settled on the skin.
It is quite invigorating.

Many thanks for your encouragement.

Have a productive week.
Cassi

Always very welcome Cassi.
I think we are all guilty of that trait, it's not always easy to see ourselves as others do.
'Steam and exfoliation' sounds like just the ticket after a 14k run.

So very true, Twack!
So true.

The steam and exfoliation were just what the Doctor ordered.
We use sulphur in our steam baths and that really opens up those pores to refresh the skin.

Best thing ever!
Cassi
