For Twitter, I have a plugin that shares the post with an image. When I share on Facebook, there is no image, just the URL link. Do I need another plugin to be able to share on

Have you tried adding a featured image to your post?

You can do this from the back-end of your website. Click on the post you want to edit, scroll down on your right-hand menu, and look for the check-box to add a featured image. This could do the trick.

Hope this helps,

Majo

Yes, I always do this. And when I share to Twitter, it uses the featured image, but not on Facebook. But for Twitter I had to install a plugin. I was hoping there was another way so I don't have to install too many plugins.

Hey Carla!

I'm sorry it took me a while to reply.
I found an interesting article from Facebook that says the first time you share a link, the images associated with it may not display.
However, here you can find some suggestions by Facebook developers to have an image associated with a link on the first share: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/webmasters/images

Hope this helps! I know it is not an easy answer, but if you want to avoid the plug-in, you can start with that article and see if you can do it by yourself.

Good luck!

Thank you! That was helpful.

No problem! I'm glad I could help you.

Just curious how long it took to build up traffic to your website? I've been blogging consistently for 4 months and I'm still only getting traffic from WA. I do SEO, share to a

Hi - typically you would see a rise in traffic around 6 months. However, I took a look at your site and you are in one of the top 3 most competitive niches.

As David has correctly pointed out, to succeed against high competition you need a narrow niche. Google needs to see that you are an authority on one particular aspect of your niche.

You have a lot of posts on your site, but they are all quite random, each one relates to a different subject. Anybody visiting your site looking for lots of information on a specific topic, would only read that one post on it, then carry on searching for an authority site. Google knows this, so wont rank your posts high enough to attract visitors.

Scorpio, how are you? I have a similar issue. What do you think my issue is?

Also, as I mentioned...I have a few keyword posts That haven’t indexed. Do you know why this may be also?

Sorry to be a complete pain...again!

Hi - your site is only a couple of months old, so it's very early days as yet to expect traffic. Are you relying on Site Content to let you know if your posts are indexed? That doesn't always happen. You can check yourself by going to Google and typing site:mydomain.com (replacing mydomain with your own, of course).

I’ve just done that and I’ve not got a clue what I just saw?? Baffled

By typing that, it shows you what posts Google has found. So, the ones you thought weren't indexed, did they show up in the results?

But how do I write it? To see it? What I saw didn’t make sense?

site:mydomain.com

Type the word site, followed by : followed by the name of your website.

So, if you were checking what was indexed on Wealthy Affiliate, you would type

site:wealthyaffiliate.com

Thanks Diane! Yes, I get that my niche is too broad when there’s so much competition. I had a narrow niche before but I couldn’t think of much of anything to blog about. I’m wondering if I should just forget about this one and start over (again) 😭

Hi - I wouldn't start again, as you have done a lot of work, and its a nice looking site. I should just start narrowing down. As you said in your "about me" page, you are covering emotional, physical and spiritual health. For a start, just pick one of those three aspects you would prefer to concentrate on.

Hi again, so...

If I type site:sportcbds.com the list of posts that come up have been indexed? Is that right?

Yes, that's correct.

Wow ok, now I get it. How do I check my google rank also? Thank you for all your help

Hi - you can use Jaaxy to check your rank, but it will only show you if you are on page 1 of Google. To be honest, you are unlikely to be ranking yet, as it takes several months after your posts have been indexed.

Do you think I should delete the unrelated posts once I decide on which part to keep? Or just keep them and make more narrowed down posts going forward? I think I know the direction I'll take, I'm just wondering what I should do with my past posts.

Hi - I should keep them. They might not necessarily rank highly, but they add to the overall amount of content on the website, which is important. You could perhaps add further material to them at some point to tie them into the new direction you are heading in.

Hi again, i have checked the google pages as you mentioned. Theres a couple that are not on there but site content says they have been indexed?

Hi there.

Hi there. I know everyone is different, but I didn't get any traffic for a year on my blog. I was very inconsistent for the first year however.

My blog is now two years old and I'm getting just short of 20 000 page views a month now, so still not great, but made the mistake of probably not narrowing down my niche enough so the competition I am up against is crazy.

If you want much quicker traffic. I would highly recommend Pinterest. Just make sure you learn how to use it properly and you can get traffic within a few weeks.

Hope that helps

Yes I find that a really narrow niche is hard to find enough content to write about. That was why I had such a hard time picking a niche.

Hi, I’m glad you have asked this question as I’m in a similar position.

I have done key rich posts and not all have indexed for some reason?

I’ve been at it maybe a bit after you.

Sorry I can’t help.

All the best to you! I’m sure persistence and patience will pay off down the road. Just don’t want to be wasting a lot of time if I’m doing it all wrong. 😆

When you are listing references for where you got your info in your research, is it better to link a phrase or word to the website source or just place references at the bottom

I usually put the references at the end of the post but sometimes right in the article itself. Depends on how I feel or, how many references there is to quote.

I link to the website of the most authoritative sources that I can find. Most articles, I have been posting mine in the body. However, I've noticed some good websites that I trust including them at the bottom. Others have the links in the text.

Maybe you could take some time to look up posts that are currently ranking in your niche and see what your top competitors are doing.

I like to do a bibliography at the end but you can add numerical references I the text to this

I'm just curious where to find the "Reader" section in Wordpress where you can search for and follow other blogs? I remember that from when I had a Wordpress blog years ago but

I use Blogvin, Reddit and Linkedin to follow other blogs now. I was using the Wordpress Reader up to last year before joining WA and I don't know where it's gone now.

Wordpress sites can be followed by RSS feed Readers. Most sites you just put domain.com/feed/ to pull up the RSS feed for the site if they use Wordpress.

Where would you put that? Sorry for the silly question but I’m interested in this too

You would need a feed reader to follow them. You can still get a few online for free but it is a very old method of following blogs. Most bloggers now have Facebook pages or a e-mail list to follow by. I have both.

Thanks. But it used to be that you could search for other blogs within Wordpress. Like searching for blogs of a specific niche or interest. I thought that would be a good way of subscribing to others and getting more subscribers. That's what I did with my old blog.

That's only available on Wordpress.com blogs where you are on the WordPress platform directly.

That's kind of what I thought. Thanks for verifying!

Hi, does anyone else have a hard time getting quality comments when requesting them with credits after publishing a post? Almost every time I do, I get the same kind of comment

Just ignore or delete/reject them. We can't stop some, doing such things.

I've seen this for a long time. I reject most of them, if it's clear they didn't read the article.

Yes, they shouldn't earn credits for making zero effort.

Robert has good guidance on leaving comments. If anyone is not sure, pls click the link to learn.

Some leave comments to earn credits, therefore it is a numbers game.

I only leave comments if I can add value. Maybe that is an approach one can consider when to participate in comments.

Unfortunately yes. I have tried many times to explain to members how to and how NOT to leave comments. I even show them what they should say. I really wish more newbies and even some established members would read my training on this. But Yes! Getting poor comments seems to be a problem because too many people are just leaving comments for credits and not realizing that they are doing a dis-service to both you and them. I hope they would not want the same done to them.

Yes it's really too bad. What goes around comes around, so if they want quality comments, they need to make an effort to do the same.

I agree. However I really think that they have no clue as to how important comment "engagement" is for the ranking of a website. If they want higher rankings they will also need to get quality comments, so they should learn this process.
