Hey WA!
I was checking some stats on Google Analytics when I stumbled upon the warnings about my site speed being incredibly low. I checked the site speed within WA and the

the speed don't look too bad - but worth checking your site in gtmetrix.com and see what recommendations it comes up with
i suspect it will moan about images
and maybe css or java
hte images you can do something about
the css and java can be delayed but most is necessary for the correct operation of your site...
so chack image size and number of images - do you really need that last one....
good luck
phil
for your info - i do have one page that on mobile is low 20's - but it is very image loaded and the images are not under my control and are large.....the whole page ize is 10mb - which to me is huge.....

Thanks for your input! The site you recommended was very helpful. And you were right about the recommendations the second recommendation was to reduce the size of some images, the third recommendation was about java. However, the main one was about browser caching and I am not really sure how to fix that. Do you know if there is any training here at WA about it?
Thanks!

there is a sort of browser cache here at wa - if you go into sitemanager and ten details for the site and scroll down a bit - there is a sitespeed - if this is not extreme might be worth clicking it up to extreme - as this is supposed to be a cache - you might need to do the test twice and the second time it should be quicker than the first.
hte other way is to add a cache plugin, but i never needed to go that far...
so i would work on the size of the images or reduce the amount of images...

Thanks! I know what you are talking about. I'll try re-setting my sitespeed to extreme and look at the size of the images, got it.
I really appreciate your advice!

You will get a lot a good answers here Majo, my first guess is how many plug-ins do you have, they will affect your site speed everywhere. I don't know anything about mobile devices, hang in you will get some great answers, WA has got some amazing folks.

Hey, Joe!
Thanks for stopping by. I agree WA has a great community, always eager to help.
As far as plug-ins I have six, I know WA recommends five, but the question is: is that one extra plug-in one too many?
Anyways, thanks for reaching out!

It's not necessarily the number of plugins, it's how well they are written. Check out these posts for some handy info...

I loved the posts you shared. Great information and easy to follow. You gave me a ton of homework, though.
Thanks for reaching out!
Majo

No problem!

I don't know if it helps, but here is a screenshot of the site speeds from the sitehealth platform here at WA.

Yeah, it is quite a mystery to me as well! Thanks for checking though, I really appreciate it!
And about the images, I thought it did. I mean, I think that is what the kraken plug-in that is pre-installed in all websites is for. But now I am not sure if I need to modify the settings because all I did was activate it.
Thanks for checking in, Deb!
