Hi all,

So I'm having a ton of trouble finishing my WA review for my website, aspiejobs.siterubix.com. I feel like I'm not connecting with my audience (unemployed individu

2015 is looking good for all of us Calvin, don't you think.

Don't stress over your review. I say publish now and come back as you evolve your comfortable writing style.
You could maybe add some links as examples of how people can make websites about their interests.
Nathaniel has some great stuff you could share in your review.

Go well from me.

Hi Janelle! I've already published what I have at http://aspiejobs.siterubix.com/your-secret-weapon. Great idea about the links. Which content from Nathaniel are you talking about?

Nathaniels trainings are all good examples of how a wealthy affiliate works on their site.

I should left it published, sleep it over for a night, you can adjust it anytime, greetings Loes

Hi Loes! Yep, I've published my review at http://aspiejobs.siterubix.com/your-secret-weapon. (Feel free to comment and share!) I'm fairly happy with it, and I've thought of some ways to improve it.

Hi Calvin, I left you a comment, I am not quite sure this is a regular English sentence you wrote, And yes, it really is free. As in, gratis.

I know what "gratis" means, but does a English speaking person also know?

I suggest.. leave it! That's a great review. Just add a few more pics/images if you can, and I think your audience is going to love it. I know I do.

Hi Peter! Thanks for your comment. I agree with you on the pictures; it's on my (lengthy) to-do list. :p I'm glad you liked the review!

haha yeah it might be lengthy but you'll have fun with it and will allow you to enjoy all your success to come, keep up your good work!

Hi Calvin! Well, that's not an easy audience to connect with, so don't be so hard on yourself. Awesome idea though. I'm having brain block the past few days myself, I think part of it is the business of the holidays. You can always go back and edit it later, that's the beauty here. I just read your 'getting started' page and think it's terrific! I would just leave the review for a few days and go back later...save it as draft and work on something else until you're ready to publish it. Happy New Year Calvin! All the best to your success! Annice

Hi Annice! I don't usually have a hard time relating to that audience; it's just this particular post. I think I'll take your advice and publish what I've got. Thanks, and you have a happy new year too!

The Site Manager says that posts should be at least 1000 words, and I've heard others say as much as 2000. Why are long posts better than short? Common sense whispers that short

Hey guys! Thanks for all your feedback. I'll just not worry about it for now and focus instead of getting through the Affiliate Bootcamp. Best of luck to you all! :)

I, myself, keep an average of 400-1000 words.
When I read a post, and it is over 1000 words, it must be a hell of a post to keep my attention:)

Hi Calvin, how're you doin'?
Jay did a live Video Class called 4 Seasons of Keyword Research which explains how and why some posts are short, some medium, some long. Check it out.
Go well from Janelle.

I would not make a point of writing 2000 word posts all the time (just my opinion). It is hard to keep your reader's attention for that long of an article.

I also would not worry so much about the word count, but instead, think about how my post is clearly communicating what I wanted it to. If it is too short, I probably didn't cover the topic well enough. Having someone else read it and getting another opinion always helps and gives you an idea if you need to write more to be effective, as well.

Michelle

If short posts were good for SEO, people could churn out crappy little 200 word article all day long. (Like in the old days).

What content should I have for my menu category pages? Right now I've basically got a post in page form. (Example: http://aspiejobs.siterubix.com/aspie-life.) My gut tells me so

Calvin Konichiwa. Your gut is telling you that your work is incomplete...not wrong.
Along in the course we will learn about ' child pages' , 'parent pages' , ' categories', and probably other menu stuff.
For now...your website is navigable( I checked it), relative and informative. It's good. You are going to need to include some images.
Work along with the training.
I found it helpful to read ahead (just read) a few lessons, just to get my bearings.
Go well from J.

Hey Janelle! Thanks for your response. You're right, I'll just forget about it for now. I'm working on the images. :)

no difference between page or post, it's up to you.

But there is. My pages are category headings that contain posts. I feel like they should be different, but I'm not sure how.

I'm looking for some feedback on adding a section for quotes to my website. Some would be humorous, others motivational, and others philosophical. They would be there as a "brea

I agree with Carson. I occasionally add quotes to my site but I always insert/add the quote to an image to avoid the duplicate content issue. That way search engines do not see the text. ~Jude

Hi Jude! That's a brilliant workaround. Thanks for the tip. :)

Hi Calvin,

Keep in mind that a quote page is going to be 100% duplicate content and this could negatively affect your rankings. Your audience is looking for your opinions, your quotes, and your thoughts. I'm not sure how a quote page would benefit your site. It might be "neat", but that's not going to improve your business, rankings, or overall perception.

Rather than your visitors reading quotes, I would much rather have them reading helpful and relevant content that they were searching for. I think a quote page is a distraction, duplicate content, and something that will be of little value to the overall performance of your site.

Carson

Hey Carson! That's a good point about the duplicate content. And as much as I would enjoy doing it, you're probably right about it being a distraction.

I think a better alternative would be to incorporate relevant quotes into my content–in pictures, as Jude suggested. Probably one at the most per post would be good. Does that sound like a better plan?

I think it's a fine idea. As you incorporate them into other posts, you can link back to categories of similar quotes. Just be sure to have some imagery there as well, it will help readers recall what they've discovered. Great idea!
