Just wondering if I should just stick to the lessons in order, or if it's ok to move forward with such things such as monetizing my site a bit more..or trying to. Advice would b
Thanks to you all! I 'figured' as much..but thought I'd see what others thought. I have been pretty much sticking with the plan..but sometimes I get side tracked and my curiosity gets the best of me. I'll try and control that area..sounds like it would be for the best.
No it is best to follow the lessons in order if you want to learn how to the right way if you get side tracked you will lose out on valuable time and energy
you will soon find out :)
It is fine to take in a bird's eye view by going ahead, but you'll soon learn that you have to take them one step at a time to really progress
Hi. I suggest that you follow the lessons as they are laid out. I've seen a few skip around and they just get all confused and end up having to go backwards and re-do. I would not skip ahead. :)
Is it best to follow lessons in order? or is it safe to sneak ahead to other areas in advance?

In order...PLEASE! I have seen people skip ahead...the result? Lots of time spent here with back and forth dialogue and wasted time because they have to go back...

My 'published' post showing in my Dashboard is not the post you see online! Help!!!!
I look in my WP dashboard, and the one published (not draft) is there, fine and dandy.
Are you sure you're not looking at an excerpt? If you click the post title, while visiting your site, does the article expand?
now when I go to my website (outside of WP) I get a 404 when trying to view the post. I've submitted a ticket. I wonder if because I updated my WP this morning if that 'screwed' (not the word I was gonna use!) things up. :/
The support staff is great (assuming you mean WA) They should be able to "unscrew" your problem :)

I've been scanning thru WP help forum but a lot of the comments are from years ago. I don't want to screw up my database if the 'solution' they're offering isn't compatible with
If in fact you want to change a post to a page there is a plugin that does that for you, however might not be the best roure if you have published the post and it has quite a bit of traffic...just a thought...i cannor remember the name of the plugin though, but will look it up later for you
Lot's of good answers here. Just keep in mind, your pages are like anchors. If you have a sales page or WA Review page you can set your anchor pages up and link your posts to back to them. Try to keep the pages in your navigation bar minimal so people won't be confused about how your site is organized.
Use your menu editor to add your Privacy page, Terms of Use and Affiliate Disclosure to your footer menu. Put your Home page, About Page, Contact page and one or two other pages that are stationary reference points in your main menu. that will keep you site looking nice and non-cluttered.
You can write hundreds of posts...they will all be nested under your Blog roll page; but you don't need a ton of pages.
Pages are more broad...big picture....posts are often more detailed, "how to do..."where to find..."what something is..."why I like product X..."what I hate about product Y...
if you have just recently created the page and really do want to post it as a blog post, it is as simple as copy all and paste
if it is an older page, you will risk damage to the integrity of your site links, especially if there are outside links to that page
No, I just started working on a brand new site. The page isn't published but I've been working all morning on it, and just realized now that i should have created it as a post...I think anyhow...lol
why do you want to do that
either way, as a page or as a post, they will still display the same
really? I thought we were supposed to have just 'simple' pages..but most of our content in posts/blogs...
I use pages for constant content, such as the privacy page, the about me page, that kind of thing
most of the postings that I do on a regular basis are entered as blog posts, or another phrase is blogroll,
essentially, blog posts will just keep piling up on each other, or rolling one after the other
pages need a different type of organization
there is no right or wrong, but best practice seems to be to use pages selectively and for specific purpose and blog posts for all the other entries you will make,
hopefully this makes some sense
It absolutely makes sense! I 'thought' that was how it was supposed to be...and I'd been working on this new 'article/work' quite hard this morning..I was a tad upset when I realized I wanted it as a post instead. I just tried your simple solution of copy and paste and it worked beautifully!!! Thanks so much. I 'assumed' it would be more complicated then that. You know what they say about 'assuming'. ; )
Thanks again! You saved the day!
If you gave not published it yet just start your new post copy and paste all your content there and then delete the page.
