A while ago I posted about earning $5K in a month through a single niche site, that site has continued earning and generated just shy of $9K throughout December 2016.

I'm not really doing anything different than what's taught here. Well, I haven't really started with social media, yet. No AdWords, no intentionally built backlinks, no guest posts on other blogs, nothing special has been done. Just simple white hat SEO bringing in organic search traffic.

Here's a shot of my Google Analytics so you can see I'm not joking about having basically zero social media traffic (for all of 2016):

Throughout 2017 I'll be hitting social media hard and jumping into YouTube as well. Should be interesting! Hoping to finally break 6-figures in online income by 2018!

I hope you're reaching and exceeding your goals as well!

Hey Bthiel

I'm having problems finding pictures for single product reviews, I write to the companies for permission to use their pics and they never write back, we can't use amazon pics.

Have you any tips for feature image pics for single product reviews?

Thanks Jake
Reply
Melissa901 Premium
When I am doing a review I just down load the picture and upload it to wordpress after it on my post I go back and attach the right link to it.
Reply
jake79 Premium
I'm talking about the picture for the main image at the top of the page that doesn't use a link.

Amazon does not allow you to just download their pictures, you can only choose the one they supply with the link attached.

You can not just take pics from google, copy-write issues! The only option left is to write to the company's but I'm not having much luck there. I wondered if Bthiel knew any other tips?

Cheers Jake

I remember Kyle mentioning this in the training and he said that people do that all the time so I think it would be a safe way to go.
Reply
jake79 Premium
Yeah I had thought about that, but i'd also read it's a big no no from Amazon if you take screen pics of their products. But maybe its ok to take screen shots from the actual company who makes the products?

I'll try and find Karls training on this, thanks, Jake :)

No worries it seems to be a tricky grey area of affiliate marketing doesn't look like there is a definitive answer. I'll probably end up taking screenshots and hope its ok, cheers jake

I am not sure if what I do is ok either but I do go through let's say share a sale and access let's say cloud 9 from there I down load a picture and then up load then add one of their links to it. That is what I do but like I said I don't know if it is right or not but no one has said anything to me yet. I do the same thing at amazon.
Reply
jake79 Premium
Might be ok with share a sale, but you defiantly can't do that with Amazon, you can only use the API pic they provide. If Amazon sees you have used their other pics they will cut you off with no second chances, this is the reason I don't want to risk it.

Maybe once I stop caring about it. I've already tried to show people a couple of times. It resulted in tons of terrible backlinks that I had to disavow (harming my SEO) as well as a whole bunch of plagiarization/direct copying.

I even had people stealing my images for a while; they're lucky I don't care too much about filing DMCA requests and/or suing as I had full ground to do so!
Reply
amyr2017 Premium
I don't understand -- people were downloading images off your site? It happens all the time, unfortunately. There are so many sites where people can get free images to use.

I think I've asked to see your site before, just to compare what you are doing, and succeeding at, to what I am doing and not succeeding at -- I just thought it would be helpful to see a successful website making tons of money.

Too bad you want to keep it a secret, but all the best in success!
Reply
bthiel Premium
Not just "downloading" images from my site, stealing content; sometimes copying and pasting entire pages. At that stage, my only option is to file a DMCA request and then more than likely end up hiring a copyright lawyer when the request is ignored. Yes, this happens, but it'll happen exponentially more if I actively share my site on a platform where people are trying to learn how to sell stuff :)

I wouldn't necessarily say $9k in a month is tons of money. There are lots of people here who make way more than that, but I can't imagine many of them would be too willing to share either.

Learning what I do honestly takes nothing more than learning what Kyle and Jay teach. I really don't do anything different than what's taught here.
Reply
amyr2017 Premium
I’d be thrilled making that kind of money in a month.
I’d be thrilled making half that amount with my website!
So let me ask you if you’d be willing to look at my site when I’m ready, to see where improvements can be made and how I could replicate your business model?
Thank you...!
Reply
bthiel Premium
It's possible! What's taught here has been proven to work numerous times over, it's just a matter of implementing everything into your own niche.

I could definitely take a look, that's not a problem. But, if you're actively learning what Kyle and Jay are teaching then I probably won't be able to tell you anything that you don't already know.

But, just to try and help you out, these are the 4 main types of posts I've written and sold items through:

- Single item reviews: 1000-2000 words minimum. cover all facets of whatever product/service the review is about. Pros, cons, other reviews (aka social proof), aesthetics, build quality, just anything and everything that might help your reader make an educated decision.

- Comparisons: Pick 2+ popular and similar items/products/whatever and basically write mini-reviews covering the pros and cons of each, finally concluding with which one is better and why. Ideally, these should be 1500-2000 words minimum, longer is better.

- List-based "buyers guides": Only one type of item per guide, minimum of 5 comparable items in the list with at least 300-word "summary-type" reviews for each. More items is better and the standard is basically 10+ now. ie: "The 10 Best Premium WordPress Themes". These posts are usually 4000-5000+ words. But, if you can manage 20 items then 10000 words should be doable, this length of post seems to be ranking well for difficult keywords right now.

- Guides: "How to" guides and things of that nature, basically answering common questions or addressing misconceptions. These can be anywhere from 1000-words and up, the more the better.

Wow this is great. I do think that I am implementing everything into my site -- but obviously it is missing something. I want to use a different theme, as the one I am using now isn't working. The large photo at the top makes people scroll down too far, and there is no option to make the header photo smaller.
Anyway, I hesitate sending you the link, but here it is:

I'm bracing myself...!

Looks pretty good so far! However, I think you should diversify your content with more reviews. Right now you have a lot of informational content which is great, but it's hard to get sales through them when compared to "best of" lists/buyer's guides, single item reviews, and comparisons. At the end of the day, those sales are what really matter.

I'm seeing a lot of potential for a wide array of reviews for a whole slew of products in between your informational/instructional posts; those reviews could then be compounded into "best of" lists and potentially even comparisons. I don't know a ton about your niche, but I am certain there are a lot of different products you could review.

I wouldn't worry about the featured images, having a big featured image at the top of a post is fairly common now if not the standard. In my opinion, yours aren't excessively big nor are they overwhelming.
Reply
amyr2017 Premium
Really? You like it? You don't think my header photo on the home page is a bit too much? Hmm.
I see what you mean about reviews, best-of lists, comparisons, etc, interspersed with the content articles.
My problem is that all of this takes SO much time to write, find imagery, create the reviews, etc. Is there a way to streamline the process? Hire you, perhaps...?!

According to Kyle we should do 3 posts a week.
2 articles is still very good.

Kambas is right, 3/week is a "sweet spot" but you can definitely get by with 2/week no problem. Personally, I was posting daily in the early days of my site, I spent a lot of time brainstorming new post ideas and even more time executing on those ideas.

Reply
bthiel Premium
That's not a bank statement, that's actually Amazon's reporting center :)

"Fees" are the total sum of commissions for items shipped, "Summary" is the total sum of absolutely everything including Amazon's "Bounty programs" like getting people to sign up for Prime, etc.

If you add "Bounties" and "Fees" together, you'll get the "Summary".

This is a very inspirational post and thank you for sharing. I definitely want to revisit creating a niche site after building out my WA promotion site. My passion is aquariums and fish keeping so this is what I was targeting. Do you think this is too broad or should I narrow it down further?
Reply
Daniel-F Premium
in order to have a successful google-grabbing site you need a good 90 to 100 pages/posts written. i think a general all-encompassing aquarium site would be awesome. talk about setting it up. you could do a page just on coral, another on aeration, etc. then you could do a page for each of your favorite fish - talk about the pros and cons of each; colors, size, life span, diet, etc, etc. good luck

Haha, loved the sarcasm at the end.

I'd say this site is at the very least 1 year old, maybe more like 1.5 yo to be more realistic. Unless he hit the jackpot in a non competitive and lucrative niche. And he probably puts put loads of articles in the meantime.

Best of luck with your future employment bro!

Amazing work, definitely inspiring.

But what affiliate programs are you using in order to achieve such revenue?

Because amazon offers very small comission % and unless you sell hundreds of products through their website I don't see how it can work.

Or if you push expensive stuff like drones, fridges, tv's etc.

Cheers again and god bless you in 2017,
Simon
Reply
bthiel Premium
I use Amazon, but I don't sell hundreds of items each month, I have to sell thousands. That report is 100% Amazon's, not something I have created - anyone who uses them will definitely recognize it :)

I sold just shy of 4000 items (entirely through Amazon) last month, 3800 or so of which shipped, totaling $243,774.80 and earning me what you see above. I sell relatively low-ticket items in the range of $50-$500

Here's another pic so you can see I'm not lying ;)
Reply
Simobrat Premium
So it is possible to earn a lot of $ from amazon, even if the people who buy something are ~4000 from 50 000 clicks.

But products ranging from 50-500$ ain't that bad. My niche is targeting anything from 30-80$ so I pray my conversion is close to 100% lol.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your achievements.

All the best and god bless,

You've mentioned a couple of times it's how you're selling it... can you share the approach? Is it more product review posts vs how to posts?
Reply
bthiel Premium
There's a healthy balance between the two. I'd guess that for every review I have there are probably 3-4 informative/how to posts. Those informative posts often link to reviews of things used/talked about in the post, but not always.

Like I said above, I'm not really doing anything different than what's taught here. Other than slacking on the whole social media thing and basically anything outside of white hat SEO :)

That's because I have enough copycats outside of WA, I don't need to add more to the already big dogpile :) Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that's you, but they exist everywhere as I'm sure you well know!

Awesome Branton and you are a prime example of what I taught in my live class on Friday. I indicated precisely what you are saying. You don't need to be involved in many niches, you don't need to be doing everything ( social, instagram, PPC, SEO, guest blogging, ad buys, Youtube, etc) to succeed, and you simply need to focus, build a solid foundation, get the formula for success down, and then do more of what you are doing.

I have a feeling 2017 is going to be a really big year for you and I look forward to seeing it unfold!
Reply
bthiel Premium
Thanks, Kyle! That means heaps coming from you!
