Topics Needed - Thinking Of Starting A Podcast

Well the title should give it away, I'm thinking of starting a podcast.

This is something I've thought about/wanted to do for some time, but it's only now that I feel I have the audience to justify it.

Here's the thing; a podcast is a big commitment. It's the same as writing a blog, you need to do it regularly and consistently.

I'm only going to commit to it if I know I can put out some solid content consistently for a good few months, and part of doing that is thinking who I should aim the podcast at and what topics to handle.

A lot of my blog content (and entire business) deals with amazon affiliate sites, and niche sites as well, so that's the obvious place to start.

Believe it or not, there aren't that many podcasts out that deal with this kind of thing. There are lots of interviews and a few niche site related content, but not the kind of thing that is similar to what Jay does on his wabinars.

Topic Ideas Needed!

Now, I don't think I can target every episode at beginners, and I can't make every episode more advanced either, but I can definitely try to handle a wide variety of topics.

I'd love it if you guys as a community can tell me what you're struggling with and would like to see talked about in more detail, so please use the comments below as a way of giving me your suggestions, it would really help me get a handle on what kind of content is missing from the airwaves.

Please note though, something vague like "keyword research" doesn't help me. Be more specific like "I don't know how to identify buying keywords" or something along those lines.

So what are you struggling with?

I don't know if this could be a topic, but I can't write scam reports on hear/ say, I read the scam reports from others, but I don't have the experience myself, and I just can't point my finger to people, who are, claimed by others, to be scammers, I just can't do that.

I have the opinion, every body does the best he can, depending on his background the norms and values brought to him. Even a thief pats himself on the shoulder, when he has a good catch without being caught. And the wrong is in being caught, not in the steeling.

Even IS thinks they are deadright doing what they are doing.

And I can't be the judge. Because that's way out of line for me to make that kind of unfundamented judgements.

Well, that's my struggle

I need tip and tricks to gather more traffic.

Hi Dom. I am a lousy writer and any tips and insight would be a great help.

If you are going to be doing a podcast on anything, take the necessary steps to make sure your audio quality is as good as your content. Your listeners will thank you for it.

Hello Dom,

I think I probably take things in my stride more than most, but you seem to notice quite a lot of new starters asking how long it would take on average to earn a certain figure of money. If you could get truly accurate statistics from successful members at WA about this aspect of things, I reckon you could have a very strong angle for podcast material within a few weeks.

Look After Yourself - SIMON

Hi Dom!
I'd love to listen to you talk about PPC

I'd be interested in how best to deal with the different Amazon regions. I live in the UK but want to sign up with http://amazon.com as well. I realize it needs quite a bit of additional research but looked at someone's site recently where the person was reviewing juicers and said the best price was on Amazon and gave the links to http://amazon.com as well as http://amazon.co.uk. The juicer was astronomically expensive in the UK - about ten times the price of the one in the US because it's not a model that is marketed in the UK.

And related to that - when I am looking at a site I am always interested where in the world that person lives, i.e. whether it's even worth my while looking at their recommendations. And I find it annoying when I have established from their spelling etc. that they are in the UK to then find they are affiliated with http://amazon.com and reviewing US products.

Hope this makes sense. Not sure whether it's any use as a podcast idea.

Not from a customer perspective but it'd be good to mention from the affiliate side of things, so thanks!

Yes, I meant from the affiliate side of things, i.e. so as not to confuse or annoy potential customers, but still give yourself as big an opportunity for a sale as possible.

Hmmm, not sure Dom. I love the idea of covering Amazon Affiliate issues and niche sites! How about stepping some podcasts to problematic areas of Boot Camp? I'm just heading back into it myself.

I can talk about some of the problematic areas of sites in general, but I won't be covering boot camp or WA stuff, because my audience isn't only WA members,

Good thinking, Dom... I didn't even think that far out!!!

Not me, but one of the new members here. Very fundamental.
"I don't know how to write a blog. Where do you even start?"
Let me know if you create a podcast along that topic :))

So you mean the actual blog post, or the day to day running of a blog

Constructing the actual blog post :)

Gotya, thanks!

I'm trying to get a straight answer from Amazon regarding using Pretty Link to create a 307 redirect, if the anchor text for the link clearly indicates the link goes to Amazon, and if the page containing the link has Amazon's affiliate disclaimer on it. So far (after 3 days) no answer...

Dennis

Amazon support probably don't know what a 307 redirect is or pretty link. Not exactly a podcast topic though but thanks for the suggestion.
