How important is Wealthy Affiliate ranking to you?

If you're like me I like to see that I'm advancing in challenges and opportunities. In the time that I've been at WA I've seen others climb the ranks and move into the 200's, the 50's and even Ambassadorship.

I found this very inspiring and wanted to follow their lead. Do you ever check your ranking and find ways to better it?

Are you motivated by your WA ranking and how important is it to you?

All the best,

Brian

I enjoy seeing my rank, knowing that it's confirming that I'm being of help to fellow members, but I'm in a different place than most others. I'm here strictly to help, since I've been in the industry since 1999, I love sharing my knowledge and can best make a difference by doing so. But if you are in the process of building your first site, enjoy your rank, but don't let it rule your life.

Hi Jeannine, I mentioned yesterday that I admittedly do follow my rank albeit not obsessively but it gives me an idea to the extent that I have been involved in the community and how I can increase my input.

All the best,

Brian

I am on the fence with rank, from the pay-it-forward prospective as my rank moves up, I feel I am being a helpful active member in the community, and like that. However, sometimes after a long day at work I am tired and by the time I read over the new posts and comment where possible, I am too tired to write content that will inadvertently help me to start earning money, which in the end is my and I am sure everyone's goal. I know that his is a real fence sitting position, I guess what I would like to learn is a happy balance of helping others but at the same time helping myself.

Hi Mary, thanks for your comment. I don't think it's necessarily a fence-sitting position as much as it is a good healthy balance that you have assumed. I like that.

All the best,

Brian

My opinion: I have been here for 3 years in June. At first I was like who cares. Why are people so active in WA. This is not a social network lol. Outside of helping people of course.

BUT I found out that I was wrong. It is a social network. A social network where you learn from other great people. The more I help others the more I learn and I am inspired. The more I ask the more I learn.

Our new affiliates really benefit from our extra incentive to help them. Which helps all of us!

The ranking in WA is a genius idea that is an incentive for us to be more active engaging with your peers. When you incentivize something you get more of it.

So now I pay attention to my ranking more. It is nice to see that I am moving up. It is tangible to my success. Not always. But I think it is a great thing!

Hi Cedric, I share the same thoughts as you in respect to the incentive to want to give more and sharing the benefit that others are receiving as a result.

This is a great motivation to me to continue being part of the community and involved.

Much success to you,

Brian

In my early days it was something that I aspired to, but now not so much. Not so long ago I was rank 6. Today I am 172 and it doesn't bother me too much because I've found that time spent maintaining my rank is time spent away from my site.

Rank is nice, but is won't earn me money or give me financial freedom.

Hi Craig, thanks for your input. There have been some great responses and I have appreciated everyone's perspective on ranking.

Best wishes to you,

Brian

Yet you are still in the top 200. Not shabby!

For the moment. Ha ha. I drop a little each day.

The ranking at WA wasm't very important initially, but when I looked more closely, I decided that it was a good thing to try and get higher up, so started on my journey

Its easy because as you learn, you earn, you help others and thats very important, it simply adds to our all round value both on and off line, and as long as you are active, then its easy to achieve

So yes, its very important to me

Hi Dave, thank you for your comment. I think that you perceive ranking to be an indication of the value of your input here and it is much appreciated.

Continued success to you.

Brian

I haven't really set any targets as far as my WA ranking is concerned. But, of course, it's great to see when you do actually move up in rank. At the moment, I'm just enjoying being part of the community but concentrate on the training. There is so much on offer here that I wished I could do 10 things at a time. Having said that, I may concentrate on ranking sometime in the future.

Hi Beate, it's great that you are enjoying the training so immensely and being part of this great community. Thanks for sharing.

Wishing you all that is good.

Brian

Thank you Brian.

Well, not really sure if my focus is on my rank. I don't understand how it is calculated, I tried to understand but got confused. I don't feel that there is some consistency. Well, it is a subjective opinion.
Anyway, it is good to move up if it goes along with my priorities, and if not, I will accept any rank calculated by the system.

Hi Nadja, thank you for your comment. I like what you had to say about moving up if it is a reflection of your priorities. A good indication of your involvement in the community.

All the best,

Brian

Thank you for the supportive comment

I'm actually not sure how I've made it as high in the ranking as I have (370 today)

It's not something I focus on all that much but I will never ignore a WA member that needs help I can give.

So as far as I can climb by helping others is just a side bonus to me.

Steve

Hi Steven, you hit the target. It's all about helping out others when help is needed and ranking really is exactly that, a side bonus.

Thanks and all the best,

Brian

Great post I think that ranking in WA is just as important as ranking in the search engines. To me, it is a personal accomplishment that you did something besides build up a business which is a great thing. To me, it is a goal to be in the top two hundred it means that you are succeeding at something by working hard for it. If you want it bad enough you will work hard for it.

Mary

Thanks for your comment, Mary. May you continue to strive for excellence in everything that you do.

All the best,

Brian

Thank you so much I am going to keep on praying and get things done for now I want to achieve the rest of my goals.

Mary

Hey Brian, excellent questions - AGAIN! I hope you are well!

TOPIC OF CONVERSATION LATELY - Rankings

It does seem to be a popular topic of conversation lately and I will be honest it has never been on the top of my list of priorities.

There aren't many lists for me these days in fact!

IN JUST FOUR MONTHS

Considering I was ranked circa 15,000 in December 2017, 4 months ago, so within a relatively short period I am Ranked 11 today, I am really pleased that I got here.

For someone that doesn't prioritize the rankings, this is a fantastic achievement for me.

MONITOR RANKINGS

I never monitored the rankings over the months and no one was more surprised than me. It was other members that highlighted my ranking to me to be honest.

PERSONAL SATISFACTION

What is important to me is that I am involved within Wealthy Affiliate for all the right reasons, I enjoy the interaction with members and I am always keen to assist, if ever I can - I do not expect anything in return.

NO REFLECTION ON YOUR BUSINESS

It's important to understand that rankings and the ranking system has no direct reflection on your business, your website - it does not make you money!

RISE AND FALL

Your rank can and does rise and fall by the day and it's all dependent on your level activity within the platform.

Nothing lasts for ever and it's all impermanent, whatever we have in life, things come and things go - rankings will rise and fall.

ENJOY

Enjoy the ranking system and enjoy it for what it is. It's a measure of many things but for me it's been about sharing and helping.

It's the same system for all members.

KEEP IT FUN

The whole experience of being involved in Wealthy Affiliate is meant to be fun - Keep it that way!

When you work hard and smart on your websites, there is great potential to make money - this is may be one of our priorities, we are all different.

The ranking system is just another series of targets, goals, mini achievements, confidence boosters and incentives.

UPS and DOWNS IN MY LIFE BRIEFLY

Last year I was rushed into hospital with diabetic poisoning, with a short time to live and before that I had a stroke - the point is:

ATTACHMENT - In my experience the ownership of things has only brought short term satisfaction to me personally.

When I was in the situations I describe above, attachment to cars, houses, the big wide screen....became meaningless!

Be careful what you get attached to. Enjoy rankings, nothing to be attached to - only fun and incentive!

MY PRESENT LOCATION

Location: Malaysia
Local Time: 21:00
Venue: Google Style Office
Number of Occupants: Positively Buzzing
Background Noise: Cool Music
Meals and Refreshments: Included

GRATITUDE IS ALL I HAVE THIS EVENING - Enjoying the ambiance

KEEP IT SIMPLE - Enjoy the system for what it gives you back - Rankings are FUN not more attachments.

Wayne

Hi Wayne, you never disappoint. What an excellent reply to my questions. You know what matters in life. Inspiring others

I admit that I attach some importance to ranking as it is an indicator to me of how actively involved I am with the community that I have become a part of in a big way.

It was only when I hit the 200 mark that I became aware of how much help I had offered others without even realizing it. This is very important to me in life. Helping others.

The time that we have been given really is like a passing vapour and how are we making the most of it?

Always a pleasure to hear from you.

Brian

Nice one Wayne.
Hope you are well.

Joe

Good thanks Joe!

Likewise I hope!

Wayne

Thanks Brian

The rankings are a component part of the overall Wealthy Affiliate system and if you attach some importance to it, that’s also brilliant!

Hell enjoy the ranking and celebrate crashing through the 200 mark and we are all behind each other to celebrate these things! It may be a little bit tedious without all the little success markers that are incorporated in the system.

I simply see it as a method of measurement and it’s an excellent way to inspire us to move forward. It is also an indicator which allows us to see our dedicated time the system - we all have different commitments.

As you rightly say you have put a lot of effort in to helping others in the community and ranking system recognises your efforts.

I am sure Kyle, Carson and Jays focus is ensuring that members receive what they come here for which is a Quality learning system and successful businesses!

As I say, ranking is a component part of the much bigger system.

The Wealthy Affiliate Platform is a system that has been thoroughly tested over the years and is constantly being improved and for me, it’s simply a pleasant place to be.

This is just the way I see it, obviously WA may view it differently, so I hope that I am not speaking out of turn?

Thanks Brian

Wayne

Hi Cheri and thanks for sharing a bit of your story with us. Wayne made a great contribution to this post which I really appreciated as I'm sure everyone else did as well.

All the best,

Brian

I am not sure if this is a response or a 20,000 Word blog response that google would only be to pleased to Rank! Very nice read!

Either way thank you for the reply and as you rightly say thank you to Brian for raising the topic!

Thanks Cheri, Happy Logging!

Talk soon!

Wayne
