Are Goals Important

Are goals really that important?

Do I really have to have them?

All goals are is deciding what you want to do and when you want to do it.

Just like planning a trip. You wouldn't decide to go on a vacation without having at a bare minimum a direction to go in. It would be like someone saying, "Where are you going on vacation" and you answer, "I don't know I am just going."

It would not make sense. Also, we wouldn't start driving north then a little later go no wait I said I want to go North but no I think I will go South, no wait there is something shiny over in the west let me go that way. I know I said I wanted to go North but this maybe better.

You wouldn’t take a trip like that, but without knowing what we want and where we are going, we are doing basically the same thing.

Decide what you want to do and go for no matter what it takes is the only way to reach any goal.

When I was younger, that was a hard lesson for me to learn. I struggled with setting a goal and then sticking to it for several years. It was when I learned to set a goal and stick to it that I was able to do a lot of interesting things in my life. It also saved me from going broke when I left a regular job and started my own business.

What are you willing to get where you want to be? (Goal)

The only answer that will get you there is, “Whatever it takes.”

You are absolutely right Bo, I am getting ready for this journey, I have my paper and pen right here, my timer I will get tomorrow and my goal is right in front of me.

Excellent Bo. I love it!!!!

I am glad you do.

I also struggled with goals for years. When I wrote down goals at the beginning of the year I'd throw everything in and the result was that not much got done, which was more or less what I expected!

It's only in the last few years that I've learnt to set priorities and narrow down my goals to include ONLY those that really matter.

Another way to help you towards your goals is to learn to cut out the stuff that doesn't move you towards them.

Yes and that is a great book

Glad you like it! I've been following Evan for several years now (I used to be a moderator on his forum). I've seen him grow and develop a lot in that time, so he's always a source of inspiration.

Thanks Bo, I have the chance to prepare properly for this journey, and will follow your advice. Best Alan

Glad to hear it Alan

Thank you. I know me if I don't have a track to stay on I go wandering all over the countryside.

Your vision is where the light is.

You are right if you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel it is hard to get through the tunnel. You might eventually make it but takes longer and you get a lot more bumps and bruises.
