I bought a domain (sikirikis.com) and thought that I can save money by building my sites as subdomains. for example:
hockeyteambedding.sikirikis.com for hockey beddings
I'm guessing you want to do this so you can have a different look for each category/subdomain.
And the answer to your question is...... who knows. :)
Google has stated it doesn't matter and shouldn't hurt, https://youtu.be/_MswMYk05tk but some experts disagree.
Here are a couple interesting articles from the last year or two:
https://moz.com/community/q/moz-s-official-stance-on-subdomain-vs-subfolder-does-it-need-updating
https://inbound.org/blog/the-sub-domain-vs-sub-directory-seo-debate-explained-in-one-flow-chart
Personally, I prefer folders, but I can see why you would want to do subdomains.
Good luck. :)
HI Chris,
Thank for your help.
I would like to clarify something: I`m not thinking over sub-domain Vs. Sub-folders on the same site.
I`m trying to save money by not buying a new domain for every site I`m trying to build and rank. So I bought a domain with a general name (sikirikis.com) and built different sites on different sub-domain.
Now, does that reduce my rankings for every different site (sub-domain) I have in comparison to buying new domain for every site?
I hope you can clarify it.
Thanks!!
Arikis
You're welcome. I believe I get what you're doing and why.
I was working on a much longer reply and scrapped it, lol.
Bottom line. Opinions vary on what's best. Do what you want. ;)
Personally, I recommend(as does Moz.com) separate domains.
After doing some more research, I actually think the best advice I saw was this: "Do what makes long term sense"
Are you best off long term perhaps spreading yourself too thin trying to work on too many subdomains because you could save a few bucks doing it that way or are you better off long term perhaps working more intensely on just one or two sites now and growing as your budget and skills allow?
Well, I have developed two sites and no traffic (and profits). So I don`t know what I`m doing wrong. Maybe just the wrong nitch or using the social network the wrong way... I believe after I`ll see even a minor success I would believe it`s possible and increase my investments.
Thank you again for your help and good luck for you too.
Subfolders would help the main site. Chris brings up some great points, but I have done it - both ways in the past and the website with the subfolders grew much better - "most" say subdomains are treated just like a totally different domain.
Your domain is still quite new.
Based on your example standingworkplaces site, it looks like you have attended at least one of Jay's video trainings, so you are probably familiar with the main focus of what WA training is about..... content.... original content.
As far as I can tell, the hockey bedding site has zero real content.
Slapping up a site with an image gallery linking to affiliate pages simply isn't going to cut it.
This is the time of year hockey fans live for, but I don't see any new content on hockeyteambedding.sikirikis.com and no new FB posts or tweets. Even though you have a very small following in these early stages, I don't see real effort here to engage your audience and truly grow your site.
It will take time to develop a real following on social media.
Those are some reasons why it may not be the best idea to "develop" too many sites at once, especially when you're just starting out and still learning.
It looks like myrelaxingvacation.com has all of 4 posts and a couple pages.
You are really just getting started.
Keep learning and more importantly, keep doing.
Thanks Chris,
I`ll keep on trying writing valuable content.
Your advises are most appreciated.

Hi,
I would like to find out what is my site ranking.
Is there any free tool or plugin for wordpress to use?
Thanks
It is always about ranking of individual posts and pages, there is no site ranking. You do not need a plugin. See some tools described in this text:

Hi everybody,
I`m trying to find out if affiliate marketing is legal for doctors.
Is it legal for doctors to pay per leads?
Where can I find rules for aff
I doubt whether there's a rule against it. Doctors use Google ads which is paying for a lead right?
You can search Google for healthcare + affiliate programs. There may be specific rules for certain areas too.
I've been in healthcare for nearly 3 decades and have not heard of any rules against docs paying for patient leads .... though I've never known any docs to have the need to pay for leads either. This would be uncommon.
ROCK ON!

Hello
Why are you leaving WA? Is there an issue?
