Put Your Cell Phone Away!
Like many here, we are easily distracted when we are blogging, and that could be a problem, at least for me.
When we get distracted, a blog that is supposed to take about an hour to finish ends up taking 2 hours plus, which is time that could be used elsewhere.
I realized that for me, having my cell phone by my side causes me to waste a lot of time.
When I see my notifications going off, I tend to get off my blog and check my phone, then end up getting side track and spending about 20-30 minutes responding to texts and going through emails.
What I do now, is put my phone on silent and leave it way off to the side.
That helps me stay on track and finish what I'm doing for my blog.
I concentrate on one thing and go on to the next task as soon as I'm done, helps better with time management.
Try it out sometime and see how it works out for you!
Happy Blogging Everyone!

So true Jaime,
There are a number of things that I have done to remove the distractions from my phone. The first is that I have turned off notifications for just about every application. I only allow a couple of critical apps posting notifications. When I have a break I can check to see if something has come in.
Secondly I have my phone on silent all the time, and I also use the do not disturb function on my iPhone (occasionally I will use airplane mode to stop everything)
Finally I turn the phone over so the screen is facing down. That way if something does slip through, I don't see it until I have a break and turn the phone over.
Great topic and thanks for sharing your thoughts.
What if you are using your phone to build this,
At least until I can afford to get something bigger.
I would look at how you can turn off all notifications and also if you are on wifi turning off the phone functions.
I know with the iPhone I can have the phone in airplane mode so I don't receive any calls or messages, but can turn the wifi back on so I can access the internet.
I have done a similar process with my laptop. The only notifications which pop up on it are my calendar appointments. That way when I am working I am not distracted by email or other notifications.
Yes, it happens to me all the time. I am a teacher and during the school year, I tried to go to a favorite local coffee shop a couple of times a week to work on my site. As soon as I got and iced latte and got to work the texts would start coming. People think because the school day is over, I'm free! I finally made a pact with myself that I would work until a certain time and only respond to texts when that time was up.
