I would like to change my domain name to match my website name but it's not
available as a .com - It is available as a .net or .biz or several others.
In the beginn
Wow Mark - your bio is unreal. - My wife is from Honduras and we are thinking of moving to Panama or somewhere else where the
exchange rate is more favorable.
I don't want to change my domain name. I want to get another
one. -
For example, my blog is called All About Blogging. - So I would
purchase another domain name close to that. Allaboutblogging.com is already taken so I might have to settle
for allaboutblogging.net or .biz or something else.
I would then go into my back office and add .net or biz or whatever
to my website title - In other words, visitors would now see allaboutblogging.net on my header instead of allaboutblogging.
The advantage would be that at least they could revisit the site
by using allaboutblogging.net instead of trying to find my domain.
What do you think? Doable? Do It? - Don't do it?
John Kalin
You can always keep the domain and just change the title. But that sounds good to me. See what other suggestions you get. If you want a great site to do comparisons of costs of living and other comparisons, check out numbeo.com
I sold my average house in Bartlett, Tn., got $150k and took a 24 hour flight with a llittle layover in Amsterdam. Got to Kyiv, deposited the $150k and walked out of the bank with $400k in spending money.
A quarter million dollars in 24 hours just by moving to a far better place than America. You can have that soon to be a 3rd world country. Exchange rates are a wonderful thing
John. that is something I want to know too, so I'm hanging around to see if you get any answers!
Jeff
Thanks Jeff - Let's share whatever information we get. My problem is that I put my name down for my domain name and I titled my
blog something different.
So if people like my blog and want to return, they don't know how.
Do you have the same problem or something different?
Regards,
John (but everyone calls me Jack)
Jack, my Wealthy Affiliate site only has my name--I need to change the domain. There are other domains I purchased but had to settle for .org. I read somewhere here that those are less desirable, but I could be mistaken!
Jeff
Jeff - did you notice any difference in the amount of your traffic, after you changed?
John
I haven't changed yet, but I suspect traffic will increase when I do--at least that's my hope!
Jeff
Jeff - you're right. I don't know what to expect.
It just seems to me that if a visitor remembers the name of your website they will be more likely to return.
I'm just wondering how funny or strange it would look to have
.net or .biz showing on your website.

You are your own brand, John. Change the title of your website to match your domain name like the big boys e.g. https://neilpatel.com/
Marion - thanks for the post. - You have provided a counter-argument. Cool.
My arguments against that would be:
I've spent a year branding everything other than my name. I have
spent the last year branding the name of my site...."AllAboutBlogging"
I wonder of what benefit it would be to now change it to my name
which no one will be able to remember. -
The switch I'm talking about is to add the word .net to my website and change my domain name to agree with that. Allaboutblogging seems to me to be easier to remember.
The question is - can I do this? How would I tie my new domain name to my website. Would I have to move my website over to
the new domain name? How would I do that? Is it possible?
Confused,
John
beginshere
It is possible, John.
1. Buy the domain name through https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains
2. Use the move button to move your existing site to the new domain name
3. Check everything on the new site to make sure all the internal links work and all references to the name of the site are correct
Expect your site credibility with Google to go back to zero as it will be treated as a brand new site.
Marion - you have helped me so many times - saying "thank you" seems insufficient but you've come to my rescue once again.
Much obliged,
John

I want to include kyle's lesson "on how-to-build-a-website-in-

How can I do this?
John

You cannot because unlike YouTube videos, there is no html embed code for any videos on WA.
Thanks for the reply, boomergp08.
I posted the URL in my email - it seems to work ok.

I want to put a Black Friday Banner on my website - but
is it clickable? - Does WA have a post about Black Friday
that I can tie it to?
John

John you can make any image or banner clickable. Add media and on the right hand side their is an option to link to a custom URL add the link you want to send it to. Ie your affilaite link
TheCatherine, thanks for replying. - I guess I should have
made my question a little clearer.
What I am looking for is a good WA ad or post or column
which when clicked on will show the viewer the benefits
of the blackfriday deal.
Any suggestions?
John

You can link your image, one you've created or copied from WA, to the 'share' URL for the WA ad or post you want it to go to when the user clicks the image.
That should do it.

Did you update a plugin or theme recently? Add a new plugin or code? Because that could cause changes. In order to change your menu, you have to go to customize your theme.
Hi John
Looks okay ay this end.
Try going to site manager;
- select your site.
-details.
-select site speed.
- Click the blue-button.... clear cache.
you should be good to go.
Sometimes flushing the DNS works as well. Flush DNS in Windows 7, 8, 10 and Clear Browser Cache Still, no joy get hold of Site support.
Hello,
I would love to take a look at what you are talking about if you wouldn't mind sharing the link.
Possible that the theme you are currently using is not completely compatible.
There is some great site support here, as well as reaching out to the theme developer to fix some mild coding.
Best Regards,
Amber
Thanks Amber.
To recap, the site was working fine yesterday.
My header had four separate columns with the last one
having a drop down menu.
Today all that was gone.
It was replaced by the word MENU
When you click on the work it does show the four columns
in a drop down -
My question is "How do I get it back to where it was?"
Here is my website:
johnkalin.com
Yeah, everything looks fine. I still don't see the drop down menu within the header menu and you can add these within the dashboard on WP.
You can add them to the menu and slightly move them to the right to make them submenus.
Does this help you with your question?
Amber

One of my customers pointed out that when he clicked on a video - it was not available. -
How do I go about "deleting" this video from my webpage.
I can't remember what
There should be a code on the page it was on that was placed there when it was embedded. If you find that code and delete it it should delete the video.
Hope this helps.
All the best
Thanks Andrew -
I went into my back office and pulled up the "post" and went to
the text section.
I saw the code for the video so I just erased it.
