Going by the photo you could be forgiven for thinking this is a tweet!

Here's what happened and no big deal but interesting to me.
I wrote a review style post with 3 very similar products - clearly 2 had to lose.

Chose 3 Products and Recommended 1

Obviously the plan is to rank for the product that I chose as my #1 but on going through organic searches to see where I was ranking (if at all) I discovered that my #2 choise is sitting pretty high on page 4 at #33!

Whoo hoo ...

I got to thinking I was very clever but then realised that maybe not - I mean after all how many searches does #2 get and what is my potential traffic?

Back to Jaaxy to check and it seems pretty competitive in the QSR column with 169 - I usually limit myself to <100 (but then again it wasn't my #1 keyword and I wasn't too concerend with the 169 number as this post was playing a supporting roll).

How is the "Best of" Keyword Doing?

For the original "best of" post the numbers are:

128 ave searches, potential traffic of 22 and 27 QSR - should be fairly easy to rank and I am currently at #92 out of 68 million - long way to go.

In the "Best of" post I review my #1 choice and ...

Those Numbers Are

80 ave monthly searches, potential traffic of 14 and 3 QSR - should be even easier to rank. Currently sitting at #39 out of 130,000

So what are my numbers for the #2 Choice - the one sitting at #33?

152 Ave monthly searches, potential traffic of 26 and 169 QSR.

And Just for Fun

For interest sake I just checked to see where my #3 choice is sitting and it isn't ranked in the top 100 - those numbers are 72 monthly searches, 13 potential traffic and 113 QSR. No surprises there though as it is a very BIG and popular brand.

I'm Happy ...

What I find interesting is how well the one that should be hardest to rank for is performing best. Just goes to show you never can tell.

I'm hoping #2 continues to work its way up the rankings and gets to the first page - it is the most expensive of the three products I reviewed and I would be delighted to sell one.

Back to work - this baby needs more supporting cast.

I am puzzled with "clearly 2 had to lose". Why? Have you seen lists with 10 or 15 products? People do not write them to lose 9 or 14, and to sell only 1. When you enter a computer shop with tens of models, they sell them all, not one.

It does not matter which of them people buy, you earn in any case. This is how I see it, but I may be wrong, I am just a physicist.

Great read! Very inspiring indeed. Keep on going!

Thank you.

I checked this the other day and since posting I think it has tanked to about 2,049,999 :) :) :)

I guess it can only go up from there.

Lawerance,

That is great work - I am going to have to do more keyword
comparisons I see :)

Fantastic job Congratulations :)

Great sharing Lawrence.
That also tells that we choose keywords and just write naturally. Great post would definitely hits the rank for several keywords, not only the focused keyword.
Great stuff.

Joe:)

Thank you Lawrence- just goes to show, you never can tell alright. Keep up the great work and all the best
