Focus everyone! WA Rankings!
I am not sure about you but most ranks sank like the Titanic today. However, I love it! It's a true test about my views about the WA rankings. In recent weeks, there were quite a number of blog posts and discussions about the importance of WA rankings. I stated my stance that WA rankings are a bonus, my focus is on Google rankings. When I first saw the rankings, it dropped by about 200. I was a little shocked but not concerned. After all, it's google rankings I want!
How did you respond to your drop in rank? By your response, you will know what your true views about the WA rankings are.
Now, what are your true views about WA rankings? ;)

Honestly didnt even know what you were talking about until I went to go look. But I really don't care, I will say the same thing I say on every post about rankings. You should help people when you can, share information that you think will help others, and learn what you need to learn. The number is all fine and dandy but really shouldn't be a motivator for you being active in WA you should be active because you WANT to be active not because you think you will be rewarded.
I help people when I know the answer because I got help when I first came and I know how important it can be to have someone giving you some guidance and also how discouraging it can be when it seems like no one wants to answer your questions. If people find me helpful thats great but I can honestly say that there are people I find extremely helpful who do not have high ranks at all because they arent as "active" but I get the feeling sometimes that people automatically want to discount someone elses knowledge simply because they arent in the top 20 or 50 or 100 etc. I understand what Kyle and Carson are trying to do with the rank but many members simply put way too much weight on it =).
Definitely agree with you on this "I help people when I know the answer because I got help when I first came and I know how important it can be to have someone giving you some guidance and also how discouraging it can be when it seems like no one wants to answer your questions." It was indeed quite discouraging when no one answered my questions in the live chat and discussions during my first 2 weeks in WA. Now, I help because someone can benefit from the knowledge I've picked up in WA. :)
And this "The number is all fine and dandy but really shouldn't be a motivator for you being active in WA you should be active because you WANT to be active not because you think you will be rewarded." is well said!
Cheers!
I sank by 800+. On the other hand, I charged (and stumble) at full speed yesterday, working on my website technicality and content. So I rank myself number 1 for putting the effort :) Ranking or no ranking, I am still glad to be here. Back to Bootcamp!
Well done Cathy! Yesterday I was working hard on my site too! I hope today is productive for you too!
I dropped by more than 300. New algorithm maybe. I don't care anyway. I've never helped people here for rankings, I just do. :) Plus, I never thought I deserve to be in the top 100 in the first place.
The ranking system need to quantify the abilities of the member at hand opposed to someones activity. I just had a look at the top 100 members and counted 20 members that would be of any benefit to me in terms of knowledge and understanding about Affiliate Marketing, SEO, content creation, Website layout, website functionality, coding etc. Colin
Hi - mine are the same as yours. Ranks great for your ego - and it conveys to others how helpful and active you may be in the community - but there are no benefits I'm aware of linked to it. You still have the same access as every other paying member.
So help where you can in the community, provide training if you can - but don't go chasing a spot in the top 10 - or you'll find yourself spending more time trying to achieve that, than creating quality content for your website.
If you attain a good rank naturally, then great - that's a nice side effect.
Cheers, Mark
Cheers Mark. I agree with you totally on that. It is a nice side effect but time can be better spent creating quality content on our websites. :)
There is no doubt that if you are ranking high here, your site is probably being neglected, unless of course your business is seasoned. I try to have a balance between my Google rankings and WA rankings.

I see something odd did happen to the rank, but it appears to be some kind of glitch. If you divide your rank by 4 you should get your old rank.
Kyle #1 #4
Carson #2 #8
boomergp08 #3 #12
BIS #4 #16
lol the fact that you noticed that kind of creeps me out! but very good observation!
Woh... You are right! Very observant.
