I just upgraded my theme to a "paid" theme. Now my site needs to be reconstructed. How do I put up a "site under construction message"?

Thanks for the info. I dont want to go live without a proper website. It was easy to install

There is a wordpress plugin called "Easy Coming Soon" that you can install that should do the trick for you. It can be found at

Hi, I have no idea if you're still interested in doing this but I found a good plugin that will create it for you. I'm new to Wordpress and still learning although I've created a website using a web-based platform in the past (but no longer use it).

Before I installed the plugin, I had created my own "Under Construction" page but it was interfering with my getting a good overview of my site. I'm big on testing and I was creating pages and posts and either setting them to private or draft (not wanting the thousands and thousands (sarc.) of new eyeballs to see an under-done site). But it was confusing when I viewed my site because those pages/posts wouldn't show and I couldn't get a good idea of how they would look when published. Since I'm new to all this, I really need to see how the final outcome looks.

Having a real shield makes me feel more secure and I can work on my site behind it and still publish without it being seen.

Just do what I do...Don't publish the page until it is ready. All of my pages and posts I save as "Drafts" instead of clicking on Publish. You can still view the pages and posts as if they were published if you have to see what your work loos like live but I never click on Publish until the page or post is ready for prime time.

If you have to put up a message then put up a Heading 1 tag that says "UNDER CONSTRUCTION"

I have seen sites before that create a page and just type it in there and publish it, could give it temporary spot in your tool bar as well I suppose, then just remove later. That is what I would do anyways.

If you don't have a separate email account you can get a free one at Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo. Set up that email address in your email client (Windows Live Mail or whatever you use).Then you can add that new address to Gravatar in the usual way. ~Marion

I got it figured out. I had to login to http://webmail.wealthypersonality.com to confirm my added email address.

When the page load at the top, just below "Manage Gravatars", there will be a sentence "Select an email address (below) to modify or add a new email" at the end just click on "add a new email".

After adding your email you will have to choose which picture "Gravatar" you want to associate with that email, you can upload many different ones.

You're welcome, Anton. I'm not sure if you can change your menu font.. I think it depends on the theme.

You could try some of the other colour schemes within your theme, maybe you will find something more suitable?

To do this simply click "Dashboard" then click "Customize Your Site."

Then on your left again, click "Theme Options."

You will then see "Color Scheme."

Try a few of them and see which you like, other than this, I don't think there is a way to change your menu.

Did that sort it for you? I know with the theme I am using, my menu's are a LOT clearer with certain colour schemes but again, I think it all depends on the theme you are using.

Hi Anton,

First of all, on the menu (where you have the options of bold, italics, bullet points etc) you will see "toolbar toggle" button - it's the second button from the end of that row.

Click that then you will see a giant "A" with a line below it, on that new row that shows.

Highlight all of the text you want to change the colour of, then click that giant "A" and select the colour you want to change your text to.

Hope this helps.

You're welcome, Anton. I'm not sure if you can change your menu font.. I think it depends on the theme.

You can link to current post but that would be an internal link not an external link in the same manner you can link a post or page to content offsite.

Make a new page and call it blog(or whatever you would like it to be called)

Then go to your dashboard:

Go to settings>reading and for posts page choose blog

Hopefully you do not have to reset by returning your setting to default. Some time I do if I am confused and than watch the video and follow the proper steps to make the proper adjustment

Okay...do you even need the Read More button? I see you have Wealthy Mind Map across the top. If you want to keep the Read More button, what should be available when we click over?

Read more only applies if you break a long article into multiple pages which is very helpful if you are monetizing the site with Adsense or other PPC ads. It will force the reader back to the ads above the fold to continue reading the post and often new ads will be shown increasing your chances of earning a paying click.

Under Theme Options, I have never done anything there...do you mean under Themes? Are you just wanting a Blog page you can add posts?

If you visit my work in progress: www.wealthypersonality.com you will see three "Featured Areas" at the bottom of page. If you click on "Read More" It is linked to a page (Wealthy Mind Map) on my menu. It appears that is my only option. My drop down menu in "Homepage Content" does not contain any other links other than those on my menu.
