How to attract affiliates and products to my Niche
Can't do it - won't do it - I QUIT!
I have noticed some chatter about people having trouble firstly figuring out what Niche to go for then secondly how to attract affiliates and products to the Niche. Some people are getting really frustrated and struggling to even start at all - If this is you then my 2 bits worth may help. First rule - STOP OVERTHINKING IT!!!
ANY Niche will work - just pick one and run with it!
Mine is "work and travel" - easy I hear the hoards cry out - everyone love work and travel - sometimes it is actually easier to have a more specific Niche, say 'dog training', specific disability theme, political, environmental, health, fashion, electronics, robotics, goldfish etc
You get the idea - so long as it is something YOU have an interest in - find motivation - and run with it - with so many Billion people out there - sorry to shatter your illusions... but you are not THAT SPECIAL!!!! - someone else will have a shared interest and will follow if they can 'find' you.
Your job - build the website - then help them find you.
Have you offered and posted your website to your profile page?
Fellow WA members might take a look at what you are doing see what feedback can be offered. I do recommend this even if it is a work in progress as this gives your fellow WA members the chance to take a look and offer constructive criticism to better help you progress to the next step.
So do you know what traffic you are generating? or who your followers are? do you have or offer sign in or subscription uptakes? do you produce newsletters?
Buy the way (for the record) we are ALL consumers and may fit into a number of Niche... therefore your 'political' Niche... for example may have a number of people who also love to 'cruise ' for example my Niche offers - or more specifically 'adventure travel my fellow WA members' Niche... so collaborate - that is our business!
Ready - go find your affiliate partners! Does your website have to be perfect? - hell NO!
It just needs to be there - a living extension of you - you will grow it and it will grow you.
Now when thinking about what affiliate program 'fits' for you - think more about what EXCITES or motivates you - that is will also motivate your followers - what excites you to promote? Perhaps it is books? find out which affiliate program 'fits' for you. Then exploit it - perhaps more PC to say now 'leverage' it...
Finally - Just remember to offer the solution to the problem, point or issue that your followers are looking for then you can and will be looking forwards to a very bright future indeed.

Good reminder to stop overthinking. This is why I chose my niche, it's just what I do and love.

Q #4 "now go find your affiliate partners" - simply means that, go DO IT! - there are loads to choose... work through your training there are sections there I think Course 2 or 3 on the GREEN training system. You can also Google "YOUR THEME NICHE + Affiliate Programs" and see what you find.
When I first started I just picked something and started. I didn't know what I was doing or how I was going to go about it. It evolved, along with me, while I went through the training. Now there is a lot of info on the site and is going really well. The same thing happened with my second site and I am going through transition and trying to figure out what I am doing in the bootcamp. I am sure it will evolve and work out well as the others did.
To put it succinctly: Just do SOMETHING!!
Nice post. As you rightly say. Doesn't matter what niche you're in. Just write good unique content that helps to solve your readers' problems or assists them to make a decision. A decision that eventually is favourable to you!

Your post here raises many questions for me. Do you mind trying to answer some for me please.
1) You ask if I've offered and posted my website to my profile.. My website URL appears in the side bar of my profile. Is this what you mean or should I include it in the actual profile?
2) Can you enlarge on "So do you know what traffic you are generating? or who your followers are? do you have or offer sign in or subscription uptakes? do you produce newsletters?" I'm not sure what you are talking about here. Is this in WA or out in the web at large?
3) Not sure what you mean by "collaborate" within the WA community.
4)Also not sure what you mean by "go find your affiliate partners". Does this refer to the companies you get affiliate links from?
Sorry if I sound a bit thick but your post isn't self explanitary for me.

Hi there Carol and Colin & everyone else who commented to this post, Firstly I want to thanks to you all for taking the time to respond and really pleased that it may have helped - perhaps contributed to you all feeling more inspired to take the next step - "take positive action"
My disclaimer: Bear in mind (if you have read my profile) I am very new here at WA and not so computer savvy - My post here is about........ "my take on our training here at WA" so surprise, surprise there is actually NOTHING NEW!!!
The only wrong questions are the questions - NOT ASKED - so with that in mind I will respond to each of the questions raised.
Q #1. Yes exactly... Carol and Colin - I see your website is in fact posted on your profile page on the right side below the posts... I find it terribly frustrating when people ask questions or enter discussions are searching for support and guidance - and yet they do not have their website posted on their profile page here in WA.
There are also discussion threads where we can all offer our websites up for constructive criticism - Very helpful - this is also what is alluded to regarding my comments on using WA collaboration. - WA Training tell us to do this. Not to forget SiteComments - that I have not figured out how to use myself yet...
Q #2. This is directly from WA Training - and my greatest learning curve - I am still figuring this all out but they are still what we all need to work through... again follow the training here and we can all achieve - get stuck then ask 0- again there WILL be someone else who can help get you over ANY bump in the road - again collaboration.
Being more specific for you Carol and Colin - I walked through your website and yours is a classic specialized Niche a nicely presented Blog packed full of awesome information. I know nothing about your subject mater - but that doesn't mater. I see you do have an Amazon Affiliate but that was not immediately apparent. However, I could not find any other obvious affiliate partnerships, or other ways you have monetized your site. Perhaps you read my post because you are ready to take your site to the next level?
You could create a membership free, membership and small paid options if you can offer value - I believe there are Plug ins that can help - ask WA community for recommendations.
Where you are educating readers about products, and services etc you could research suppliers and actually offer pictorial links as well as the highlighted link.
Find out if there are e-magazine subscriptions for your Niche - via an affiliate program then promote it
I find it nice and an 'honest open disclosure' to also mention eloquently that you "may have affiliate relationships with some of the partners and products that you promote and in the event they choose to subscribe to anything the find offers value you may receive a small commission or donation"

#2 You could become an affiliate and on-sell an e-book for someone else for a small commission
