1-Week Old Website: 19 Clicks, 3 Ordered Items. Go Amazon!

Last Update: September 21, 2018

Hey guys,

This post will contain both the question and the success story aspect.

It's been a while since I dealt with Amazon stuff. I decided to create a new website here at WA solely based on Amazon products and I saw that 3 items have been ordered from Amazon.

I can't recall exactly but does that mean that I will only see the exact amount of my commissions once these items get shipped?

Only two things do not get paid on Amazon, it's wine and Amazon gift cards, which were not in the list of ordered items.

Now to the success story part.

My new website has been up for only a few days and it already started working.

Man, I forgot how it feels to get items ordered from Amazon!

Even though I receive my residual commissions from Wealthy Affiliate, I am still glad to be done solving some personal matter and being fully back in the business :)

I will work my butt off to make this site work for me full-time.

I hope you guys are doing great and it be great to hear your responses in the comments.

Happy Monday!

Zarina

This is a remarkable example, it debunks the myth about not having affiliate links in new sites (the beast called Google apparently hates them so much). And it also shows that you do not need any authority to rank - this is a one-week-old site and it still ranks (I assume your traffic is organic at least partly). Great work in any case.

Curious to know for reference only and as an example, how many posts you have there?

Well, it's my guess that someone clicked on my website through social media - even though the website is already indexed, it's too early for it to have organic traffic.

I just published one article, working on my second one.

Thanks for stopping by, Jovo. Good to see you again.

This is a great result in any case. It can have traffic instantly, just fetch every new post. This looks like a great start.

I also have a one-week old site, blogged about it recently, can see it in my profile, the posts are ranked and are receiving Amazon clicks, over 20 so far, no sales. So you are doing better for sure. Congratulations. My pleasure too.

That is some awesome response on a newer website. Congratulations to you. Amazon doesn't charge until the item ships, so that's probably why you haven't seen the commissions fall into your account yet. You are doing great!

Wow, pretty impressive for a new website Zarina. As far as shipment, I have had some orders that had taken several days to get shipped. Eventually you will see your commission posted.

Congratulations! I really like selling through Amazon links! Yes, you only get a commission once the item has shipped. This often takes several days, so don't worry!

If the purchaser changed their mind and canceled the order before it shipped you would not get a commission. This is pretty rare though.

This is indeed a great success story. Things happens when you least expect it. My affiliate count with Amazon expired. After applying for a Professional Business account, I received acceptance. I got my Professional Sellers Account. Now I will be able to sell products on Amazon.

Best to your success Journey.

I got lucky - when I created my account I got my first $0.50 commission during the first 3 months, so they didn't close my account.

Thanks for your support Louisa!

It's good to see your success Zarina. I've had an Amazon account for a few years and although the commissions are small I wouldn't want to be without that account. It's great when the cheques arrive in the mail. I'm expecting another one in the mail box very soon.

All the best for your continued success :)

Hi Valerie,
Good to see you again!
And I missed that feeling of making commissions through Amazon, I hope to be getting large sum cheques from Amazon :)

Coming from a large insurance background (internet and face-to-face), I understand the frustration of being paid when the product was paid for (aka shipped). But it's better than being paid a commission and then owing the money back. And thanks for the head's up on not being paid on Amazon gift cards, as that link on my one site will come down this afternoon. lol Peace, and congrats!

I agree but that's OK, I just needed to clarify that I will eventually get my commissions haha.
Besides, the items got shipped the next day and now I can see the total amount of earnings received for those orders. Not that much time to wait!

Hi, Zarina.
Paul here from Canada.

Nice to see you again. You look great.

So what happened with Amazon 'Shipping' and 'Commissions?"

It is truly amazing what can be accomplished here. Keep up the good work.

Kindest regards, again.

Are you talking about the shipping and commissions in the title? 1) Got an answer quickly 2) the title wasn't as catchy haha

I used to wondér the same thing. Then I realized they only pay once the items are shipped. They will also debit your account for any returned items.

I believe these items ordered do not apply to any of the categories that you've mentioned. So I just gotta wait until they get shipped and then I will see the exact earnings made from my new website

You can calculate what your commission will be. Just click on the fee schedule and find the category the items purchased fall under.

I have attached a screen shot of the Amazon.com fee schedule. I think most are using this one now. You can find the tab just under the reports tab when you are in reports.

Hi Tanja, long time!
The items got shipped the next day, so I didn't have to wait tooo much to see my commissions. Yay
Also, I wanted to calculate but wasn't sure which category exactly the items fell into.
Reply

That's great! I refer to the fee schedule often when something gets ordered from a category I am not familiar with and I am curious about the commission.
Reply
Zarina Premium
I will keep that it mind if anything. Thanks again! :)

Yes, the items have to ship before you get credited for your commission.

Some items ship faster than others. That's one reason a lot of people specifically promote prime eligible items, no waiting around for another company to fulfill the order.

Makes sense, thank you!
