I am so thankful to be here with all of you today. I want to tell you how I ended up on the wrong side of the road - literally.

A SCARY MOMENT
This past weekend, I made plans to join some friends at a restaurant. I had to travel on a road in the area that I have always hated driving on. It's terribly constructed and a very confusing road. At one point, this road literally has two lanes of traffic going in one direction in the middle and on both sides of it, traffic going in the opposite direction! What?! I have no clue how this was ever engineered this way! It's horrible and makes absolutely no sense.

After I was leaving the restaurant, it was very dark and I needed to make a left hand turn to get to where I needed to go. While in the left lane, I got to a point where all of a sudden, I saw a barrier. In order to avoid hitting the barrier, I had to veer to the left. All of a sudden I look up and traffic is literally coming AT ME! No one was actually in my lane so I slowed down and got all the way over to the right so that I was out of the way. I came to the stop light where I needed to be. I put on my hazard signal and waited until the traffic light turned green for me to turn. Then I slowly turned the corner and got myself back on track. I am thanking goodness today that it was late and there was little traffic out during this time of the night. I am so very thankful.

I have never in my life had that experience - to literally be on the wrong side of the road. After I got home, you can imagine just how frazzled I was! But I got through it without a scratch on me, my car, or harming anyone else. Thank goodness! Thank goodness!

LIFE'S JOURNEY

Of course I've thought about that night several times since then and it reminds me of how much we get off track when we are traveling through life's journey. Even here in WA...we can get off track. We read all the time how people write "life got in the way"...I've even written it a few times myself.

But when those times hit us, if we pull over to the side and just take our time, we can get back on track. We have to be patient. It will fall into place and we'll get to our destination without a scratch.

BEING THANKFUL
After Saturday night, I am just so thankful for so many things. More than anything, I got through that experience without being hurt or harming someone else. I am blessed and so very thankful to be with my family - including all of you here. The outcome of that situation could have been very, very different.

If you are having a hard time with something in your life - whether it's personal or here in WA, be thankful for what and who you have around you and that you have this community to help you get through the situation. Continue to carry on and you will get to the end of whatever it is you are struggling with.

Have an awesome week everyone. I know I will!

Oh my goodness Yvette...what a harrowing adventure. I am so thankful you arre okay and yes, you are blessed! I am stuck where you aslluded to...the proverbial side of the road. I thought once I scraped up the money to go yearly during the Black Friday event, I would certainly hit it head on, but alas, I am still stuck just waiting to make that U-turn to get back at it. Your experience and thoughts after are what I need to pay attention to. I thank you for sharing today. In this line of work at WA the more traffic the better, but I need to move as traffic does...in the right direction!

Thank you Liz* for stopping by and for your comments. I am truly blessed - oh my goodness....talk about my heart being in my throat! You have made some awesome analogies here! Just take it a step at a time and get turned around in the right direction. You will get through it - like me - unscathed. You've GOT THIS!

Have an awesome week.

That was a scary experience! A good lesson, however, Yes, it is too easy to get confused and get on the wrong side of the road. We need to be vigilant and forgiving of ourselves. Glad your story had a good ending.

Great points. Thank you for stopping by and your comments. Have a great week.

What a heart-thumping experience! So glad you are unscathed.
Guess it brings home what is important. Being alive!
Please don't go to that restaurant again at night!
C & P

Oh, you don't have to worry about me. I will avoid that entire road like the plague from now on...even during the day! Thanks so much for stopping by C & P. Much appreciated.

Very lucky everything turned out OK.

Thank you for stopping by Michael. I wish you all the best as well.

Great analogy...your angels were with you on that road. Taking a moment to regroup is a good way to get back on track...as long as we don't spend too much time there! Lol
Debbie

Yes, my angels were definitely with me. And you are absolutely right, Debbie, dwelling there too long can get us into a bad spot for sure. We need to regroup and move on. Thanks for stopping by and for the comments.

I had a similar experience a few years ago. I was leaving Mexico City and saw a sign with a big arrow that said to Queretaro where I needed to go. The rosd made a Y, so I followed the arrow and saw 4 lanes of traffic coming at me.I stopped and a policeman walked over to the car. I rolled down the window and he said"You're going the wrong direcytion and blocking traffic. I said, but the arrow there is pointing to the way I need to go. He said"but everyone knew the right way., so I need to give you a citation and you need to go payt a fine."I said"How much is the fine?"He said $500Pesos. So I handed him a $500 He wavbed me on, so went around the block and merged into the correct trsffic flow. I never wiondered if he really went to pay the fine, but I suspect not.
peso note and said, "ZWhy don't you do me a favor so I can get on my waty and tekll all my friends how nice the Mexican Police are.

Oh no! My heart just sank as I read that! I am so glad you ended up being okay! I'm with you...I suspect your fine wasn't paid either. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I appreciate it.

its good to be thankful
