They are getting your info form your whois details that is connected with your domain. If you don't privately register your domain, people are going to be able to access your private details.

There have been scams like this going around for ages and they in no way have any association with us, rather they make the connection based on where your website is being hosted (they can also determine that from your who is details).

I revealed one of the main culprits for these phone scams here;

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/kyle/blog/global-educators-inc-is-a-poaching-scam

As a rule of thumb, if anyone calls you trying to sell you on ANYTHING don't join and hang up. These are total scams.

Thanks, I didn't he did call back and say he would call tomorrow just won't answer. They will do anything. The thing is on my salon site I have my phone number for salon. Can I go back and do the whois?

Yes I have had several!

Be careful Brenda.

Not getting anything from me.

Cons will try anything. My mother-in-law (she's 75) got a call yesterday saying that her computer wasn't working right, which it wasn't, and for today's special of only $99.95, this person could fix it, over the phone, after they gathered a little more info, which included her credit card number. She hung up!

They will stop at nothing. Scum suckers.

you did the right thing

He called back and someone is calling tomorrow, do you know anything about this type of thing. One of his execs would call me tomorrow. Does this happen? I am so confused.

it's scammers, just hang up. Only listen to Kyle and Carson.

I am this is crazy. Do you know how I can go and do that whois to my salon site?

Here is a paragraph from my site. Are you at namecheap? If so this will help. GoDaddy will be similar I suppose. It says 3 dollars and change for a year but will end up free usually. You will just have one item in your cart though. My blurb is talking about domain and whois privacy

Once you have the name you want you can add it to your cart. Next you should also purchase the WhoIs privacy so your registration information is not visible in the WhoIs search engines. If you choose to do this click on Security on the top right of the screen and select WhoIs Guard. This will help protect your information from spammers and unwanted solicitation. You should now have two items in your cart. If you have a promo code enter it and apply it then click on confirm cart and start checking out

Thank you for answering actually, I went to the place that I bought the name and added the security. I bought this name before WA I had my website hosted somewhere else and then moved to WA, didn't even think to ask for the security thing because back then I didn't know. Learn something new everyday.
I will say that I am so thankful for WA, and all the members. Thanks so much for the help.

Phishing takes many forms. You did the right thing.

Can these phishers get access to your computer, whilst you are talking to them on the phone.

Unlikely

Hope not.
Brenda

I have not. Have you heard from Kyle or Carson about this?

No I have not I guess I will send them a PM.
Brenda

If your website does not have privacy enabled, it is possible to get this information.

I asked if I could go back and do it I thought I did, but my salon website has my salon phone number on the site for appointments.

At least it is not your personal number!

Now private, I bought this domain name before finding WA, and never had this happen, but I guess they just had not gotten to me yet.
Brenda

Definitely suspicious. Shawn's suggestion is a good idea.

Yes very and they are scum suckers.
Brenda

Please report this to Kyle or Carson, it is a scam

Done and now private. Lesson learned.
Brenda

I did, they are aware.
Thanks

Everyone please make sure your whois is activated on your site.
I have training available for namecheap and go daddy
