Logo and Graphics Creation - Who Do You Use?

When I started building my site, text for my site title in the header just didn't look appealing. I wanted it to be more eye-catching and professional looking. I decided to get a logo.

A logo gives you an easily recognizable image that associates it to your brand. McDonalds has one of the most established brands in the world. Anywhere you go if you see the classic "Golden Arches" you'll immediately know it's McDonalds and what services they provide.

I won't go into brand marketing but it's a really big deal if you want to keep people coming back. People are visual beings so having a logo allows them to better remember your site and helps you differentiate from your competition.

Anyway, since I know nothing about design, I decided to get one done through Fiverr.com. It was cheap at $5 and the results were actually pretty amazing. I carefully chose a designer who had a good record. Good comments, good ratings, quick response times.

They'll ask for information such as what you want it to look like, color scheme, any images you want in there, etc. For me, I had NO IDEA what I wanted since this is my first website www.earthquakekitguide.com.

I just trusted her and gave a link to my website and told her that I wanted something that will match the theme of the site and is earthquake related. She actually came back with 2 different types of logos for me. I was surprised with the creativity and awesomeness of the logo and fell in love with it instantly. The only tweak was to make the "e" in the middle a different color to make it stand out more which she was happy to do.

This is the gig I used:

My experience on Fiverr, especially with this designer, was amazing. Just wanted to see what other people are using for logos and custom graphics.

I've been using Canva for my blog title graphics as I only need to find an image and add some fancy text and styles to make it look good. But for more complicated graphic creation, I have no skill so I would need to hire someone to create them for me.

What sites/resources are you guys using for your logo or any custom graphics?

How much does it cost (free would be excellent)?

Which are the best in your opinion?

my very first logo was by fiverr they did a good job however I have had a new one which was done by my daughter, so if you know someone who has artistic talent could always ask them to

Yeah, that's a good idea. My sister is very artistic and does amazing drawings but unfortunately she's not trained in doing web graphics so I couldn't use her

you do not have to have web graphics my daughter does not, she created it using free software and sent me the download

Ooh great timing and thank you as I need to think of a logo. Thank you for sharing. Never used Fiverr. Would like to,use the same person as you so will follow the link

No problem. I was thinking that most people would probably want to get a logo eventually so I thought this post would be helpful.

It certainly was

http://designfeed.io , https://next.logogarden.com/ , http://Pixabay.com

And to tweak and add and remove text I switch over to
MS Paint > ideal to remove or replace parts of picture and text

http://Pixlr.com express and editor
On the editor you can add pictures as layer, so melt two pictures together and there are great opportunities on express for adding cool written text and special effect layers.

Great list! Thanks for that. I will be checking those out.
Always nice to have multiple tools under your belt.

I have used fiverr too with really good results for logos. You do have to do some looking around and decide if a designer is right for you. There have been two fiverr people that have done some great logos for me. I also use canva, I love to be creative on Canva and it's free too.

I agree, not everyone on Fiverr will be good so make sure you read the comments and reviews first. Also, ask questions before you buy the gig to ensure that they are capable of doing what you want. Not all designers have the same skill set so if you have some crazy idea they might not be able to do it. Ask first.

Also be sure and check what comes with the gig. You should really ask for all the file types such .png .jpg .eps etc. You will also want to make sure you logo come with a transparent background so you can overlay it on top of other images without a stark white box in the middle of you image. Plus you want to make sure it can be resized in a number of ways without becoming pixelated or grainy.

Great tips!

Good info. Thanks for sharing I plan to use them,

I have some links on my Free Infograghics blog. They can be used with canv.com to make a header...............Marty

What a good idea! I use fiver for things like this aswell.

With regards to Logos and Graphics, I do my own.

That's awesome. I wish I had the skills to do my own, unfortunately I'm more on the technical side and not on the creative side.

Great idea. By the way your link above is missing an r in the word earthquake. It does not link anywhere in its current state. I think you will want to fix it. David

Thanks for that David! I guess I should proof-read more thoroughly before posting.

I have used fiverr several times and have found them very good for the price. I have done a few graphics myself using Canva, which is free, and a handy tool!

Great to see you are using the same tools that I am. Do you have any other useful tools you use?

Not for graphics, I use pixabay regularly for images.
