ANZAC Day Lest We Forget
Today in Australia and New Zealand we remember those who served our countries. ANZAC means Australian and New Zealand Army Corp which operated in the Battle of Gallipoli in 1915. The Battle commenced on April 25th and the day has become our county's Remembrance Day.
I post this with great respect and admiration of my father who was a member of one of Australia's hero battalions on the Kokoda Trail in New Guinea during World War II. He survive but his premature death, when I was young, was a result of that service.

Honorable post William. I had forgotten that Australia was territorially involved in Eastern New Guinea at the time!
Thank you Mike. And Australia had the only army units available to defend against the Japanese ground forces. There were US air and naval support but no ground forces until later. The Battle of Kokoda (which was may months) and the adjacent US Naval Battle of the Coral Sea were turning points in the war.

It's fitting to honour those who have fallen and remember that they sacrificed their lives, so we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.
Thank you Adrian .. William.
