I'm still using WP Clone for my smaller sites but I wouldn't trust just one backup plugin. Try Updraft Plus in addition to WP Clone. Full Backup With a Plugin
The issue with free plugins is whether they are updated regularly. A lot of plugins start to glitch because the developers lost interest or went on to something else.
WA backs up all of our sites daily so in a worst-case scenario they can retrieve it for you.
But it is best to have your own backups.

I am on their mailing list and I trust their information. WP Clone isn't even on their best-of list.
