Am sure I am not the only one that has seen this developing around here. I don't do much blogging here on the platform but I do like to read some of it.

I prefer reading post with at least a little bit of originality. Some of these post don't seem to have any what so ever.

It is what it is and we are only going to see more of it. I'm not really complaining because nothing can be done about it anyway. It is here.

Maybe it is just me I don't know, has anyone else noticed this?

Yes and I agree with your point of view Kirk, also with what ParthaB said about thin content. There's a right way to use AI for content generation ideas and writing it and many wrong ways. In my opinion, using it to write generic content and as ParthaB says (thin), with 0% of your own voice and unique value added is not one of them.

Hey Kirk,

I think I may blog about this myself today/tomorrow.

To be honest, much of the content I'm seeing (which is definitely AI-generated) is what I would consider THIN CONTENT.

The is especially true of the listicle articles that are currently being published on the platform.

Unfortunately, there is NO actual actionable advice in many of these blog posts.

ABSOLUTELY NONE!

As an example:

Top 10 Tips To Rank at the Top of Google

1. Do SEO
2. Do Social Media
3. Write Quality Content
4. Do Keyword Research

etc. etc. etc.

And then within the blog posts there is absolutely no explanation of how to do these things, and the subject at hand is not being explored within the blog post.

Can you see how this IS Thin Content?

It doesn't actually mean anything unless you explain to your reader HOW to do these things.

Unfortunately, with this type of content on a blog/website the articles MAY rank initially, but they definitely won't stay at the top of the rankings for long.

Google is obviously interested in "Visitor Engagement", so while it may be all and well and good to get 1,000 visitors a month initially to these types of articles, BUT when visitors find there's no actionable advice and leave the blog post within 1 minute and then search for ANOTHER ARTICLE ON THE SAME SUBJECT, Google will realise that these articles aren't ADDING VALUE...

Eventually, rankings will be lost.

That's the thing, you should never get excited by "short-term gains" in this business, it's what occurs over the long run that is most important...

Rant over (but will be continued in my blog post which WILL provide actionable advice, LOL).

Partha

Thanks for your thoughts. I will be looking out for your new post for sure.

Great points man!

Some do look like copy-and-paste AI content. I use Grammarly, it's a form of AI. English is my second language. I use American Sign Language (ASL). When I type, the Grammarly Go Beta version helps me, so they help me learn how to be a better writer. That is the only AI tool I use.

As Kyle stated, AI is here, and we will have a summer blast of AI stuff. We all better get used to these ideas. I'm looking forward to seeing how that will be helpful for me. There will be more AI training tools on this platform- that will be cool to see.

We have some great writers here that amaze me. I hope they keep doing what they are doing. I am all for AI, but I sure notice the difference at this point.

You are not the only one. Yup. AI is our extra hand. We have entered an era where it is the way, and it will remain. Even some of the highest-ranked members, like TheAbie, and myself, use AI to write blog posts. The big difference is I am not trying to hide it, and I always add at the end when I use AI even though I don't find anything unfair about it. It's how things are nowadays. Like in this post as you can see: I have been using GPT for nearly a year now and can recognise its structure. It's always the same, so it needs some tweaking before publishing.

Yea, I think that is what I said in the post. Several of the bloggers here at WA are amazing and I like how they all have their own styles. I admire those that can create these amazing posts.

It is a beautiful thing and something I could never do well. That just may be why I notice it more than others.

I guess it just takes training and practice since it's a new thing for some. And I agree that plain copy/paste is not a wise thing to do. As it's been mentioned over and over, Kyle is at the hem about this and promised all kinds of cool training. That will help.

I am only talking about blogs in WA. We all know that plain copy/paste probably will not rank well with Google but in here that doesn't really matter.

I have messed around with AI some and plan to start using it more myself

Me too, I want to learn how to use it

As Abie point out, Kyle just sent out a blog about a WA AI initiative. Maybe I skim too much rather than read slowly, but I honestly am not able to tell posts that are AI generated.
Jim

That's because AI posts about WA were generated by scraping existing posts about WA from members. That's how the AI systems were trained to find the answers to the questions posed to them - find the sources and basically scrape.

Might depend on which post you read. I have no problem with AI am just pointing out what I am seeing and asking if I am the only one.

I am not talking about blog post about WA, Am just talking about all blog post in general.

This is something that I have just started to see lately. It is not the majority of posts yet only a few.

Interesting. Now that you mention it, I have been seeing quite a few posts that are very similar to posts I have already read. So, those are probably AI?!! Why would someone want to put there name on something that they didn't really write? I guess I too "old school."
