Quick Ways Destress

Stop looking up quick ways to do things.

Plan regular breaks in your work

Get regular exercise.

Drink more water.

Get a good night’s sleep.

We Know What to Do.

We know really what we need to do but “Manana” is the name of the game for many of us, (yes, I know, I am just as guilty.)

There is a new fashion in self-help called “Mindfulness.” It is really just a re-badging of a longstanding technique called meditation but with a niche twist.

In our busy lives we are constantly planning and worrying about the future and thinking about the past.

Mindfulness is time out to help us focus on Now.

There are many different forms of meditation yet they boil down to the same thing.

Like a car has 4 wheels and an engine, there are a multitude of different cars and even more uses for them.

We can travel to a destination by car. We can meditate in many forms and it is a natural thing to do.

Notice Now.

Being mindful of now and allowing the past and future their rightful place of “memory” and imagination, allows us to be aware of what we are really doing, now.

Minds, Hearts and Bodies Now.

Our minds bodies and hearts will follow what we are conscious of at any moment. So bring them all to now and be aware of what you are doing / feeling and sensing.

It can be very calming and may even make you smile.

Good afternoon Peony,

Very important to take a break now and then. Like yesterday we were on a nice motorcycle ride in the mountains and in the evening we went to an open air concert.
While I am at the computer my better half is taking his break making a kitchen bench, am I not a lucky girl?

You certainly Tatske. Sounds absolutely fabulous. Are the mountains near the coast to you?

Yes, they are close to the coast but not so high that is why most winters they are not covered with snow. Like the Mijas mountain on the south of where I live since 1981 it has happened only twice and then it lasts a few days.

Oh yes - they are beginning to teach it in schools in the UK. It is such good self-medication.

Wow, you're kidding! That's awesome! Our school learning system here in the US needs to be revamped drastically. The old system just doesn't work like it used to. So many new things should be schooled here. This would be a good one!
