About Videre
Joined February 2015
I am a retired physician who is looking to advance the health and happiness of people by way of my new internet business. After over 20 years of serving others as a physician it is rather daunting to find another outlet to self actualize my life mission.

The internet seems to be an obvious place to serve others. When I started in medical practice the internet was only used by a select few. Today, I could conceivably reach many more people than I could in private practice. Nearly three decades of medical practice has given me insight into many areas of humanity that I can now share with others by way of the internet.

Years ago the aquisition of information was slow and arduous. Today, there is a need to be able to sort through the infinite amount of information that is presented to people via the internet. I hope to assist others in that process through my internet business. In that way, people will have both access to information as well as discernment of what is truth.

You may notice my user name is "videre". It is a latin verb translated "to see". I want to help others "to see" the truth in the voluminous information on the internet.

Anything for you Sarah...by the way I watched the Marilyn Monroe make up tutorial...fascinating. I see you are a "leftie." Very nice video tutorials...extremely creative. I am sure you will be a hit.

A leftie? using my left hand you mean? If so, I am in fact ambidextrous and sometimes I don't know which hand to use so I just use both one after the other =D

But anyway, thank you so much for checking out the Marilyn tutorial, it's one of my favorites! thanks also for the encouraging words, they give me courage!

LOL..even more interesting...we are polar opposites:) I am super focused, am only good at one thing, athletic, speak 1 language, not creative, right hand dominant, one genetic heritage, and have only lived in the US. I think my neuro-network is lopsided:) LOL

PS Oh yes, and I almost forgot, I am opinionated to a fault...I definitely have a lopsided brain.

ahahah the thing is I can be super focused, actually I am sometimes so focused I lose track of time. But... most of the time I am so focused that when I am not that's when I bump into things lol because my brain can't take it any longer and I can't think straight or see what i'm doing.

Reply

Yeah, I was raised by an extraordinary woman who lacked confidence and doesn't know how awesome she is lol. She taught us (my brother and sister and I) to always be humble and never brag and to always get better.
Reply

Humility...it is a gift and also imparts great influence as a leader. I read a book not long ago called "Humilitas" by T.R. Dickson. In that book he defines humility as temporarily withholding ones power for the benefit of others. The archetype of this being Jesus Christ Himself. The more humble we are the more we model Christ to others. It is a very curious personality characteristic, as to pursue it is to not have it. It seems to be something that occurs when our heart is right with God. It is also not a virtue that is generally emphasized in modern culture.

I have watched your growth "from afar" in becoming an Ambassador for WA...it makes sense now.

Jeff

Hi, Videre! Thanks for the follow! Now that I read all about YOU, I am so very happy to meet you! I am a fairly recent widow of a wonderful physician who became so disillusioned as to the direction primary care medicine was going prior to his death. He worried that it had become so non-patient care oriented with too much priority focused on the bottom line and patient numbers that quality and follow-up was falling through the cracks.
He enjoyed teaching and taught residents for a while during his practice. When he was so frustrated with administrative "politics", I often tried to encourage a change from his clinic practice to more of a teaching or writing career to no avail. He wanted his exposure to his patients.
Nonetheless, I plan to follow you and look forward to your blogs. I miss having my own personal doc around! LOL!
Glad you are here!

Hey Rita...thanks for the follow. I read your biography and your comment above. Was the physician your husband? I meet many colleagues who have become disillusioned as well. Medicine has certainly changed since I started (I am a "baby boomer" so I was originally inspired by Dr. Kildare and Dr. Ben Casey...you look too young to know who they were:).

I have been with WA about a year and have been a full time medical writer during that time (I am retired). I published my first book (I am working on a second), intend to make an audio version of my first book (I will be going into the production studio to do so within 2 weeks), and administrate my 2 websites. I also publish a newsletter weekly (which is really one of my recent posts sort of fixed up).

I live with my last daughter and ex-wife (strange I know), have 2 chinese crestids ("hairless" dogs), love life, love medical writing, and am very thankful for WA. It is because of WA that I have been able to get so much done in my first year.

If you would like to talk further (or have questions that you don't want to ask publicly about anything...I am an "open book"...you can also use the private message function located at the top of the screen.

I was a novice when I joined WA. The internet was mainly a research tool for me until WA taught me how to build a website, write a blog, market the site, and generally change my life. I am so grateful that I found WA (I had been scammed for over 10K before I met them).

If I may be of some encouragement, counsel, or help please contact me.

Regards,
Jeff

PS: I love your 2 cats.

Hey, Videre! Thanks for kind and uplifting response at that!! Yes, he was my husband...took his life 3 years ago this past Christmas. I will not and have not hidden his chosen end to his life. Society, as a whole, needs to stop its conception of the shame of suicide and encourage more awareness of its presence, it's signs and symptoms and so much more. I will be working on just that as my next niche...
My cats, my roommates...ha...preferred to be my first niche of course! They provide me much humor and comfort as is obvious and probably annoying to some! :)

Hey Rita...I took a look at your site...I love it. You have a natural writing ability and obviously love cats (I too really love all sorts of animals. We used to have cats (before we started with dogs:). Your landing page is well organized, attractive, and engaging. I book marked it:)

Your story with your husband also needs to be heard. I had many patients who were suicidal, in whom I did interventions. I was not always successful but I am glad I made the attempt (I was a General Internist, Emergency Room physician, and Pain Management physician). I guess you will do that at the right time for you.

Your husband must have been a handsome man as your daughter is beautiful (I have 2 beautiful daughters and 1 handsome son...all 3 have beautiful spirits. I am also blessed with a beautiful daughter-in-law and handsome son-in-law. I am generally blessed:).

Our doberman and our cat at the time just literally died a few months after my husband's death. Animals, birds and nature traveling were our most loved pastimes together! Great pics and wonderful treasured memories!
He was very handsome! Although my daughter and son were his stepchildren, he was way more than a father to both of them. I also have a handsome son-in-law and a pregnant, very beautiful daughter-in-law. I so LOVE them all...they just all live in Florida, and I don't right now. We shall see...
Enough for now. I have not taken the time to open up to anyone here till now. I really appreciate the break from worrying why I cannot for the life of me find the way to edit those stupid images on my front page that show my posts!!!!!!

If you go to your dashboard, in the right lower area of the screen you can set your desired image for your blog posts. Perhaps you can change the images there. Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your question on glyphosate.

Honestly, the data is controversial and the popular view of glyphosate (concentrated formula known as "Roundup") does not depict it in a positive light. With regular use in both commercial and domestic environments (in multiple forms - salt, surfactant, anti-foaming etc.), it seems to be one of the more popular herbicides and also one of the first herbicides to be targeted for GM crops.

Glyphosate is considered non-carcinogenic by international authorities. However, some studies have observed endocrine disorders and genotoxicity with the use of glyphosate in roundup form, as well as a potential (stress "potential") relationship with certain cancers. Truly, more high-quality studies without conflicts of interests on either side of the debate is much needed.

Would it be detrimental to a person's health to include organic and non-GMO foods in their diet? Probably not. When it comes down to it, it is a personal decision whether or not to eat conventionally grown crops, though some may prefer to err on the side of caution until more conclusive data is available.
Reply
videre Premium
Thanks for your input...are you familiar with Dr. Stephanie Seneff's research?
Reply
DrK00 Premium
Hi Jeff,

I am somewhat familiar with Dr. Seneff's work. I appreciate her data and find her presentations interesting. However, her sources supporting her hypotheses are also very controversial and some authorities are extremely critical of her approach.

This is definitely a "hot" topic, with strong support emerging from both the public and professional sides for the two view-points. I welcome Dr. Seneff's hypotheses, but further peer-reviewed data is essential in order to unequivocally determine the true effects of glyphosate use.

What are you thoughts on the GMO/anti-GMO movement?
Reply
videre Premium
I recommend organically grown foods (which includes a personal garden or local farmers if grown correctly). I guess I have become more skeptical of mega-farming over the years. As for GMO related food...I would like to see food labeled as to how it was grown and let the public decide what they would like to purchase. It concerns me that the rate of autism has increased in such a short period of time (as has obesity and Diabetes Type II). Such short developmental periods seem to imply an environmental cause of some sort.
Reply
DrK00 Premium
The controversy surrounding the data with regards to the benefits/harm of organic/non-GMO/GMO is suspicious in itself. I definitely agree with having food labelled for the public's decision. This will no doubt result in a more informed public demanding better quality, more sustainably-grown food, though the push-back already occurring from certain corporations with a different agenda is there. I find it interesting that despite the GMO-safe message from some well-recognized agencies, the sale of certified organic food products keeps growing year after year.

Separately, the AHA recognizes, though only relatively recently, the damage caused by condemning saturated fat and promoting carbs/sugar/sugar-free substitutes diet decades ago, which the direct impact to public and international health (obesity, DM II, cardiovascular disease...) is only now being addressed.

It's unfortunate that it's the everyday patient that bears the brunt of political/economic/corporate-favoured data and trends.
Reply
videre Premium
Right...give the public the information and let them make their own decisions. If they decide poorly it will be their responsibility. On the other hand, having been a Federal bureaucrat for 3 years and in private practice for 26...I don't trust the government or big business. My goal would be full disclosure and let the people decide.
Reply
DrK00 Premium
Agreed! Full disclosure should, at a minimum, be mandatory for the manufacturing, distribution and sale of food products... Anything for human consumption really. This can be a reality with enough public support and (more difficultly) political will.

There is also the whole other debate regarding the environmental impact of GMO crops. I am no environmental specialist, but one can ponder the potential effects of ingesting food that, while in the field, was not fit for human handling and required the use of biohazard suits (not to mention the effect to local and regional flora and fauna).

The cause of the sharp rise in autism and certain cancers is somewhat unclear, but the plethora of hypotheses is intriguing - is it due to better screening and diagnostic methods, introduction of GMO's, increase in sedentary lifestyles, popularity of processed food, explosion of wifi/bluetooth/cellular frequencies... Time and further evidence will (hopefully) tell.

Hello Jeff!

Just wanted to drop by, tap to follow and thank you for your many kindnesses. I have seen a few to others and it is endearing quality worth looking into and supporting.

I look forward to visiting your websites, will take a peak before I step out to get some writing done in my own.

I look forward to what else you will creatively bubble to the surface.

Hey Videre,
Like your chronic pain website! I'm checking out the link about sciatic nerve pain exercises. I really like the way you have developed your website...nice work. I'm just in lesson 9 of course 1 of bootcamp...so I've got a lot of catching up to do.

If you should find a few moments to look at my site and give me feedback, I'd appreciate it. Trying to figure out how to incorporate posts...but I guess that is yet to come.

God's best to you!

Hi Doc! What an excellent informative website (Chronic Pain Options) I am new to WA and just browsing, happy to have found your site. I just started taking a regimen of vitamins for a skin problem and Turmeric Curcumin Complex is one of them. I did not realize it is excellent for many health issues. Thanks and best wishes to success, Jeanie

You seem to be doing well keep up the good work as I am from Australia my issue right now is the currency changeover and I can see it being many months before earning any hint of income that pay's and would have to sell a lot of products to see any profit.

You may be correct Cheryl...on the other hand anything you do that has real value and potential is going to require some sacrifice of some type. I hope you will consider making this work for you...it is the real deal.
