A to Z Analogy: Vitamins

In my A to Z Analogy, I will take places, things and people and relate them to developing our online business. This is just for fun, but perhaps, you'll be able to see something from a different perspective.

Today's Analogy: V for Vitamins

First and foremost: This post is not related to my niche. Repeat, this post is not related to my niche! OK... now that's out of the way, we can proceed...

Vitamins: How Much Is Too Much?

Ideally, it seems it would be best to get them from food consumption, but even the healthiest person may not get the dosage needed on a daily basis. But I learned from personal experience that being deficient in one or more vitamins could cause serious harm...

About 8 years ago, I experienced excruciating pain in my stomach, it felt as if I had been shot! I called the stomach doctor I had seen recently and he was able to see me right away; I went to get a sonogram and returned to him within an hour or so.

The verdict: I needed to have my gallbladder removed. Immediately. To me, I "immediately" meant 1st thing the next morning. Wrong! Immediately meant right now!

So, on the 2nd day after I was admitted to the hospital, I had my gallbladder removed. But here's where it gets interesting: I was in ICCU (Intensive Care Unit) for a day and a half after surgery! The reason? My potassium level was too low! Can you believe that... potassium! I can barely spell it, let alone know why it's so important.

My surgeon was kind enough to inform me - every day - that the majority of people are able to leave within a day or two after having their gallbladder removed. I had the pleasure of having to stay there seven days after surgery! Yes, seven! Potassium...

Vitamins for Healthy Wealthy Life

I think it's fair to say that Wealthy Affiliate provides us with the "vitamins" we need to sustain our "life" online:

- Vitamin Tg gives us the training needed to learn about developing our business.

- Vitamin Wb are the webinars for in-depth training.

- Vitamin WgP allows us to hone in on our writing skills through writing posts.

- Vitamin LcH is the Live Chat where we can receive instant answers and suggestions.

- Vitamin PiF: This may very well be the most critical, because it allows us to pay it forward.
We receive help from others, then extend help to others through answering questions and providing encouragement, even if it's just to say "Well done!"

Have You Taken Your WA Vitamins Today?

So, put on those walking shoes, grab you water bottle, and don't forget to take your daily dosage of WA Vitamins! And always...

Veronica, great post! Now I know I need to take my vitamin every day. Hey, I'm happy you are doing well after the surgery. Now, I have learned not to rake the small things for granted.

It's so easy to overlook those small things, Louisa. But in retrospect, I consider myself fortunate.

It's interesting, but I never thought of this until just now: If I hadn't gotten my gallbladder removed, I would not have known that I was deficient in potassium. Isn't that crazy!

Thanks for sharing, Veronica.

Thanks for reading, Roger.

No problem, Veronica.

Hi Veronica,
Great post, very clever. I include bananas, yogurt and avocados in my diet every day. All are high in potassium. Also yams, potato, and spinach. :-) Potassium and magnesium are two minerals most people over 50 are deficient in. A magnesium supplement before bedtime also helps with sleep. :-)

I didn't know that potassium deficiency was common in most people. What blew my mind it that a vitamin I never really think about was so important to my overall well-being. I still can't believe that a low potassium level kept me in ICU for almost 2 days!

I appreciate your list of potassium enriched foods, Wendy. I eat them all except avocado because I really don't like them. But I did come across a recipe for a shake with avocado and it's absolutely delicious!

Love it Veronica.
I try to take my WA vitamins every day too :)

You and me both, Chrissie! When I don't, I just feel awful!

Good one Veronica. I never forget to take my daily dose of WA vitamins.

A dose of WA vitamins along with some good music is always a good combination, Jay!

What vitamin do you recommend to a 55-year-old like me?
You reminded me that my gallbladder too was removed 15 years ago.

I think for those of us who are 50 and over, we may need to take more than one dosage a day, Jimmy... LOL!

Here's one vitamin I would highly recommend: KL - Keep learning!

Love it! And such a true to life analogy...thanks for the pearls of wisdom.

Thank you, Crystal!

What a story. Yes, I also DO believe that vitamins are more important than OTC or prescription pills... unless it's absolutely necessary. I hope you have recovered well?

I probably could have avoided the surgery, Norbert, had I been more diligent in maintaining my health. It took a couple of weeks, but I recovered.

Thanks for reading!

Thank you for all the niacin involved in these witty bread crumbs Veronica!

Oh, Papa... your humor is always a few steps ahead of me!

I like your witty post Veronica.
Yes we need all these vitamins to keep us healthy and wealthy.
Thanks for for putting up your awesome thoughts.

:)
Joe
