My 8 Year Old is Building His First Site
So we decided to create a Indiana Jones website. I said we will split the income 50 – 50 he said mom I want a 60 – 40 split :).
Monday we got a domain, he was so excited, when we were looking at different domains he said "get it get it before it`s gone"... He also helped me set up the hosting and change the DNS settings.
Today we installed a theme and got our first two pages up, he is reviewing some of the Indiana Jones products he is playing with. He just turned 8 and had a Indiana Jones party so he has a few products to go through and review :)
We have lots of fun and he learns a bunch on the way.

It's soo cute! I love the set up of the website! btw, when I clicked on Contact and FAQ, they said "page not found"...and the video for the indiana jones theme song has no sound...but really, really cute! Tell him, nice job! I'd comment on it but no place to comment :(
Thank you yes there are things that need to be updated for sure. Now my 4 year old wants to make one about princesses :)
Haha! That is just too adorable!!!! Just add commenting on your son's website and if you make her a website, add commenting to it as well...and let me know when you do, so I can go over there and compliment them. Will make em super happy...especially since I'm a random stranger who likes visiting their sites!!! Boost up their confidence and turn em into moneymakers...??!! :) lol
We sat through a show at Disney World once that was an amazing stage show similar to some of the links that you have provided.
Haha thanks, yes turn them into moneymakers. We haven`t worked on the site for a while so now when I brought it up again he said but mom I will need my own laptop. Haha time for me to get a new one for me and hand this old one off to my 9 year old it sounds like :).
You can make comments on the blogposts. Not sure why the comment box is not showing for the pages... will have to look into that.

I just commented on the indiana jones halloween costume page as that is the only page that has the comment option. You can go on and show it to him :) haha! wish I had a laptop at 9 years old...that's a precocious little boy! :)
Thank you! He got so excited about the comment and I can`t get that big smile of his face (not that I want to :) he is so proud of himself. Thanks for encouraging him means a lot when it`s not just mamma doing it.
Wow, starting off when he's 8. by the time he's in high school you will have him making money hand over fist for you.

Eight years old! That's impressive. Is he writing content for the site? Indiana Jones from his point of view will be unique and most entertaining. Great for other kids as well.
We do it together. He writes a little bit then he tells me what he wants on there. So yes it will be from his perspective, we have lots of fun doing it.

This actually great idea - as we can not only use it for our children but as a training for others and make few bucks :o). Ok, so we are going to set up one with Peppa Pig with my 5 years old lol
Peppa pig is not a bad idea, my 3 year old loves the fresh beat band and I created a site for her :)
This is probably the coolest thing I have heard in awhile. I love the fact that he negotiated with you on the split. Good luck on your project...I think it is going to serve as a wonderful learning experience that will put your son beyond his years in terms of understanding.
ha ha yes he is still "demanding" a 60 - 40 split :) I love the way he thinks, we were installing the theme and he was going "I want a whip here, I want Indies hat here... " we need to hire a web designer to do all the changes he wants, there are no "cant do" in a kids mind, I love it
Don't ever let him lose the "no can't do" mindset...it is something that we believe as a child but should continue believing as an adult. Somehow it is lost along the way for many...
