Yup, 20% of the work still takes 80% of the time. So to my mind, this simply calls for wisdom. Maybe the last 20% of the work is not that critical sometimes. I mean, is it really necessary or advisable even to make sure that every little detail is just so? I am finding that sometimes I have to stop at good enough otherwise I will never get on to the next post.

Sometimes you just have to publish a page and move on with the idea that you can spruce it up later with cooler images and nicer color combinations. Perfectionism may be the enemy of progress in this aspect, at least it is for me.

Anybody having the same experience? Or is this merely intellectual laziness parading as good time management?

I find myself stuck because I want the page perfect. I just move on. When I do that, the ideas begin to flow.

makes sense richard. its almost like when your'e trying so hard to remember something. If you just forget it and move on to something else, you brain will hand it to you effortlessly.

In my iTravels, I've yet to see a perfect site.
For that matter, many sites with seeming stupid mistakes get hi traffic volume.
The point is sales, not perfection.

thanks jon, good observation.

Good advice

now if only i could follow it darrell :-)

I kind of see this now.Get the content up first and then tweak it later,at least with this mind you are getting something done.

my thoughts exactly.

Wisdom: Here's my ultimate view of it - - Sure, time is the monster lurking behind you, daring you to catch it. In this business, you never will.

:-) we must be wise and patient. Nice,

I totally agree; most of the time it's just us who see what is 'missing' and we can change it when we have more time, or just leave it. :)

how true, we are our own worst critic at times.

A perfectionist normally never get satisfied, so I think what you call "good enough" might be perfect in other peoples eyes. So yes, being a perfectionist could stop your progress. Just my opinion.........

i hear you and agree, a lot of it is about perspective.

Great post Van. I agree - get away from it for a couple of days - start your next post - then go back with a clearer mind ... It's easier to see the bigger picture of your site when you go back with fresh eyes. :-)

thanks lorna, fresh eyes, that's what we need sometimes.

Haha......love your verbage...

lol, thanks rosie.

"intellectual laziness parading as good time management." ... lol, that's a good way to put it, if it's true. I've observed and tried to master the 80/20 rule for I don't know how long, but it's a conundrum with staying power, it seems.

I think it's a matter of focusing properly.

focus, hmmm. Sometimes that escapes me too.
