8020 rules
Yup, 20% of the work still takes 80% of the time. So to my mind, this simply calls for wisdom. Maybe the last 20% of the work is not that critical sometimes. I mean, is it really necessary or advisable even to make sure that every little detail is just so? I am finding that sometimes I have to stop at good enough otherwise I will never get on to the next post.
Sometimes you just have to publish a page and move on with the idea that you can spruce it up later with cooler images and nicer color combinations. Perfectionism may be the enemy of progress in this aspect, at least it is for me.
Anybody having the same experience? Or is this merely intellectual laziness parading as good time management?

I kind of see this now.Get the content up first and then tweak it later,at least with this mind you are getting something done.
Wisdom: Here's my ultimate view of it - Wisdom in Its Practical Form - Sure, time is the monster lurking behind you, daring you to catch it. In this business, you never will.
I totally agree; most of the time it's just us who see what is 'missing' and we can change it when we have more time, or just leave it. :)
Great post Van. I agree - get away from it for a couple of days - start your next post - then go back with a clearer mind ... It's easier to see the bigger picture of your site when you go back with fresh eyes. :-)
"intellectual laziness parading as good time management." ... lol, that's a good way to put it, if it's true. I've observed and tried to master the 80/20 rule for I don't know how long, but it's a conundrum with staying power, it seems.
I think it's a matter of focusing properly.

I find myself stuck because I want the page perfect. I just move on. When I do that, the ideas begin to flow.
makes sense richard. its almost like when your'e trying so hard to remember something. If you just forget it and move on to something else, you brain will hand it to you effortlessly.
