The Story of a Bright and Shiny Red Colored Parcel

A few weeks ago I received a letter from my broadband service provider. Yes, this was a real letter in an envelope. It came through the post and into my mailbox at the gate. That doesn’t happen very often these days. It was actually quite exciting. Almost exciting as the early days of email!

When I opened the letter there was colourful content telling me I would soon receive a parcel containing a new modem, at no charge to me! Wow, how often does one receive a gift from a service provider? Anyway I was very happy.

One afternoon last week I turned into my driveway and there outside the front door I could see a bright and shiny red coloured parcel. It had been delivered by courier. Thank goodness it was still there. It was so obvious sitting at my front entrance, and could have been removed before I returned home.

Anyway I took the parcel inside and placed it on the dining room table. Being so attractive, why leave it anywhere else! I didn’t rush to open the parcel because of not wanting to disrupt the internet at that time, should that have happened.

Since first receiving the letter in the mail box I had been quietly excited about the thought of faster broadband. The broadband speed at my place has been pathetic and I told my service provider in feedback one time not long ago. I believe it pays dividends to give honest feedback. Well, sometimes!

A while later I had a visitor to my home. Of course the shiny red coloured parcel sitting there in all its glory caused a conversation. I said how much I am looking forward to faster broadband speed with this new Ultra Hub, aka Modem, and the VDSL broadband.

I was told the VDSL broadband is not any faster. It will not make any difference to the internet speed. Hmm……!!

So, with slightly less enthusiasm I connected the modem last Friday evening. It had to be connected by 3rd of November. Over the next two weeks my service provider will make the necessary changes at their end.

I can’t expect great results until approximately 17th November. But, I am still not giving up on expecting a faster internet service to my home.

My faith is not shattered. I’m continuing to focus on the fact that VDSL broadband will provide a faster internet service than I currently experience.

Hopefully, in about two weeks’ time I can tell you I am enjoying a very fast broadband connection that helps considerably with my online work.

Good evening Valerie,

Let's keep our fingers crossed and that technology will live up to your expectations.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Thank you so much Taetske.

Always good to hear from you.

Valerie

Don't worry about it, I don't think it will not be different, it all depends on the channel you program the router and how many people using it.
Keep us posted, but I believe and wish for you to get faster broadband.

Thanks very much Sylvia. I appreciate your comment :)

I LOVE happy ending stories like this!!!

Yes, I can hardly wait Lorrie. Thanks so much for your comment :)

Nice blog Valerie, I would get excited to if my internet speed was faster or in your case expecting it to be.

Thank you so much Fred. I greatly appreciate your comment :)

Any company that would send a modem in a shiny red package has just got to be trusted! Keep the faith.

Thank you Tanya. I love your comment. And, I will keep the faith :)

I don't get excited about broadband speeds...I still have the words "DIAL UP" etched into my tiny little brain...:-)

It's a long time since I've had dial up!

Me too, but the memory is still there...

Fair enough!

It's interesting, but just a few days ago, I was reading a book that had a chapter on the power of color. '

Hope you and your broadband connection will have a long time together, Valerie.

That's a lovely message Veronica. Thank you.

It's true that color does have a huge affect on us.
