How to Quickly Find the Meaning of Words - A Useful Tool for Writers
Hi Folks,
It’s almost certain that you, as a creator of online content, will be aware of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. I’ve used this dictionary time and time again during my years of producing website content.
Amazingly, it is only a short while ago I discovered Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Day.
Various forms of ‘word of the day’ have been prominent online at times. No doubt many could be found now by doing a Google search of that keyword.
The difference is that Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Day includes a Dictionary and a Thesaurus. The Dictionary being the quickest tool I’m aware of for finding the correct meaning of a word. All one needs to do is type a word into the Search Bar. The information you are looking for will be given in detail, together with:
- examples
- origin
- synonyms
To hear the correct pronunciation you can click on a sound icon and a voice will clearly speak the word.
When subscribing to Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Day you can:
- see what people are reading
- test your vocabulary
- play word games and quizzes
There are many things of interest and these can all help to improve knowledge of the English language, which is so very important for writers, or authors, whichever word you relate to the most.
The subscription to Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Day is Free.
