Changing negatives to positives - a how to succeeed
GUESS WHAT. ALL PEOPLE HAVE THEIR NEGATIVE MOMENTS IN FACE OF FRUSTRATION AND DOUBT. NONE OF US ARE THE LONE RANGER.
Trying to erase a negative head on is not a reliable way to try and change ourselves because that focuses on the negative. If we want to sell our products we don' focus on why people will not buy. We focus on why people do buy. If I find myself constantly arguing with my mother-in-law, I'd be better off being nice to her in positive ways. If I want to get those things done that WA teaches, maybe, I should prioritize, focus and get them done.
The practice I'm approaching here is called Visual Imagery. It is proven to work extremely well in changing our negatives to positive action.
You want to achieve something but never seem to quite make it. Sit down and run a movie in your head of having reached one of your WA goals. Maybe you want to build an awesome website.being attentive to what would be required. You are the director, the main character, the script writer. Imagine what that movie would look like. How does it feel? Imagine and believe yourself as success in action. This places you in the process of actively changing a negative self-belief and setting yourself up as a success.
You want to be assertive (not aggressive) with an annoying customer service rep over the phone. What would the reviews on that movie be like? HOLLYWOOD, STAND ASIDE!
HERE IS WHY VISUAL IMAGERY WORKS.
You are in the process of changing your belief. All human behavior follows what we believe. Our new behavior reinforces the new belief which in turn reinforces the wanted behavior. "Look at me! I know I can do this thing because I just did it. The evidence is right here."
Your belief has changed, therefore, your behavior has changed Negatives give us reasons not to believe. "I can and will to do it" motivates action and achievement. Doing Visual Imagery yourself will give you evidence that it actually does work in practice.
Give it 21 days of perseverance and voila! Got a habit you have been trying to break? Try visual Imagery. It's not magic. It's training the subconscious. - Al Hurley

we can only use muscles if we train them- and they are more amenable to being trained than we might assume, good advice, Andy
Thanks for the info. I believe it, if we can see in our minds what we want to achieve, we are more likely to succeed. We all run into stumbling blocks too.
Thanks for your reply, starcreator. Changing our beliefs cause us to do new behaviors. Discarding old beliefs and adopting new ones does not happen overnight. That's why Visual Imaging let's the subconscious do its work over a period of time, 21 days at least. Repetition of a movie director doing many takes.
Hi Al! Well, there you are! Glad to see one of your personal growth posts! I love things like this! I've been a big fan of visualization for years! This will help a lot of people today! Thank you for sharing this with all of us! :-) ~~Sharon

Al-
Don't know how I missed seeing this blog over the last 6 days days. But I did. Again, you have blogged about a self-help skill that if practiced and put into action will get our ol' cash register a clanging. As you well know - action is so important. A super-smart man/woman once said "Knowledge is not power - putting knowledge into action is the power."
The imagery that you discuss is so important. Thanks for reminding us how important it is and how the unconscious is so powerful. Perhaps you could do a series on what the unconscious is, how it works and how we can use it (specifics) to reach our goals and to help others to reach theirs in WAU. OK?
With your degrees and experience you have so many goodies that you can be share with us. Keep writing blogs and training. We need it and as Kyle endorses and promotes "Pay - it- forward," Thanks again Larry freedomforus
PS This visual imagery combined with proper "self-talk" (see one of my blogs about same) could result in our successes even faster. Hmmm! Thanks again AL. (urtimelyal)
Thank you for that, Larry. It is encouraging to me.
A series on the subconscious is being planned out now, straight forward with no pscychobabble or confusion. In fact, as additional topics for blogs pop into mind they are written down. I believe they will be useful to WA. - Al Hurley
