Yes, as you drive down the highway you see many, many signs for this place. Again the kids loved it and their was even a Live Rodeo when we were there.
The stores history started by giving out Free ice water.
And driving around thru this beautiful land, a free ice water sounds good.
Well I hope to get back here to Wall Drug Store, let me know if you have visited.

Yes Rob, I was there several times during the 50's......it was long before I-90 was built & U.S. 14 was the road it was on. Wall S.D. then was just a tiny little wide spot in the road. The summertime heat in that country is something else.....it's why their road signs advertised "free ice water," all over the U.S......no air conditioned cars then. Very creative marketing gimmick......you'd have to travel through that area along about July, with the car windows down to understand it. Nice memory for me.

When i was Younger on our family road trips heading home from grandmas in New York. We would also look for the stuckys for the big suckers and eat at the howard johnsons, every body has one back there. Loved those days. Guess i was lucky as a kid to see America.
I want to take my family back and show them your part of life and towns, sometimes i miss it.
There are approximately 114 signs for Wall Drug from Souix Falls, SD going west. :) I know I counted them on our way to the Black Hills a few years ago with our Boy Scout Troop. It is amazing country.
You have to be careful not to fall asleep or will miss some. I had a piece of paper with tally marks.
