We're All Just Farmers
If you think about it we're all just farmers. We plant seeds everywhere we go and we hope that we're around when it's time to harvest.
I tell my kids all the time the same things my parents told me when I was growing up. It used to drive me crazy listening to it but looking back now I'm so grateful that I had parents who cared enough to plant those seeds.
Sure not all the planted seeds grew to harvest and maybe they planted a few things they didn't mean to but whatever, that's life.
The point is we all plant seeds every day, be it marketing content or taking time to help our kids with their homework...That is if you're lucky enough to still remember all that crap they taught us growing up lol.
I recommend planting some financial seeds, watering them and sticking around for the harvest.
It's so easy to get distracted from your goals, but if you really want to succeed you have got to focus. Focus on whatever it is in life that calls to you. I mean don't quit your day job till it's time but for the love of pete don't settle.
As far as I'm concerned as long as I don't quit I'm not a failure and that thought has carried me through some very dark times in my life.

I learned the concept of being a farmer from Tom Hopkins (Sales trainer) back in the '80's when I was doing Real Estate on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I never forgot it. You don't plant seeds one day and expect to harvest the next. It takes work, every day for weeks or months. "As you sow, so shall you reap"
Hello Ty! Its already been said but I'd like to chime in too. Being a farmer is the best kind of giving. Its sustenance and health. Its like sharing a smile with a stranger as we pass on the street and their day is cascading into a downward spiral but our smile lifted their spirits, put the brakes on the spiral so they could take a different emotional tack.
i have always believed that the little we give to others can make a BIG BIG difference to them. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Linda
You are so right about that Linda. I know I've been on the receiving end of something similar to one of those smiles and I know the other person didn't even know it but they made my day.
We never know half the stuff we've done that affects people do we?
Another wonderful post! When it came to attempting to create sales like I did the first time, it didn't happen for probably a number of reasons, and this to collaborate with the above that, not every seed you plant is going to make it to harvest. It doesn't happen on the farm nor will it happen here. I learned this trying to repeat some success I had last month. Now, I'm at the point where I'm going to do it again, but this time, make sure it's as thorough as the first time.
When I wrote that one, I had no idea it was going to take off like it did. I was thinking at best, I'd get some comments and a couple tire-kickers at most. I had no idea this was going to turn into a valuable experience (seeing what it's like to get traffic and what can happen.)
I will be repeating what I did before, more to the tee, since the product I'm now reviewing is VERY similar to the one where I got the hits.
It may have been the second product you reviewed didn't have the same level of interest the first one did too. I will say this though, if you had one that worked try to think what's wrong with it and improve it from the last. After awhile you'll get a reputation for doing solid honest reviews and you will continue to get further sales.
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it very much and I'm glad this was helpful to you.
Definitely working. I made a sale today. Two more sales like this and I will be at the level where all of my rent obligation is covered. It's getting better.
That's awesome, I was just reading about the sale on your newest blog. Is that from that same thing you did before?
You're absolutely dead on with "we're all farmers". I've never thought about it this way and you can bet I will be "stealing" this and using it with my own kids.
What an excellent and simple way to explain to them the impact we make on ourselves, our community, our world.
Thanks for sharing.
Patty :)
You are more than welcome to steal it. I'm glad you enjoyed reading this and thank you for the kind words.
