More Spammers Name And Shame
A week ago or so I posted a question about some duplicate 'Bios's' that I d come across whilst welcoming some new members. I originally thought it was a glitch or my computer. Thankfully the community spotted it for what it was.
SPAMMERS. Well we're here again. It's not really a wasted blog because every time this happens it's an attack on our right to carry out our work on this incredible platform.
As per my daily routine, bless my OCD, I have a look through the new members and new Premium members, that come on my dashboard. I don't just click on the 'Follow' button, I look at the bio and send a message of welcome or encouragement. I like reading the messages that come through to me so like to return the gesture.
The first bio I clicked on, straight away, triggered a little red warning in my brain. Sad, sometimes how mine stores random pieces of info. Here's the Bio.
"I'm a newbie at this. I stumbled across W. A by accident, and now im intrigued to see if working from home is achievable. I'm both excited, and nervous, but am interested to see how we go. Its good to meet you all, and to gain much needed experience."
I rolled over onto the next one and guess what? Same again. There were no fewer than eight, all exactly the same. Now I opened another tab, so I could start a blog without losing the new joiners on my profile page. This way I can name them on here and if you happen to come across them...do what you need to do. Not sure what that is. Last time Apache1 helped 'big style' so the message got out there fast.
I also checked my profile page, again on another tab, low and behold another eight exactly the same. Here's few for your pleasure:
MOGIHY, VOREROPEL, NYDIHATIW, FYBESEPYG, HOJEYQYV, LIKOW, VYCIVI, SEKIH, NYWYTKA, HABEDUDU, QOQUKUQAZA, LIQURULI, KIJUXAL, QAGER, MOLAQAXU, DIGYCEDI.
Chances are that this is only the tip of the iceberg. I found sixteen in total after two page refreshes.
Spread the word in what ever way is possible and be vigilant. In what ever fashion and whatever they think they are going to achieve, I take this as an assault against everything that WA stands for. They are insidious and will worm their way into the system without reproach.
Please share this as much as you can so that as many members are made aware as possible as soon as.
If anyone higher up the food chain can run with this then please feel free, quicker the better.

Interesting! The WA platform already has a defence against such miscreants so let's use it properly.

Never hurts. It's a bit like vandalism...cost of repair or replace might be small but it's the inconvenience and the time it takes to clean up the mess.

So I 've just clocked another sixteen on two page refreshes. Are these of the 400? Or are these a fresh wave.? Is the timing significant bearing in mind that in Canada and the States(Eastern side) It would have been the early hours of the morning.?
Not sure John most that I noticed they were created around the beginning of Feb when this all started if they are new then they might need to be reported to Kyle.
The ones I found all have a 404 error now so there could be a few still to go. Will send you a pm shortly as well

... it's all ok ... keep doing what you like to do -- greeting new members is a really warm, human interaction that is natural and vital as a gesture of peace in this world ...
... encourage you to continue to do so ...
... and of course, it's also helpful when you catch 'bots' in action -- better to pre-empt than to let them proliferate and run amok!

In this case it was a person who went premium then created all these bogus starters as they have there profile filled in this would give the premium member that $1 for having a profile completed so if you think at least 400 of them if they got away with it which they wouldn't that is at least $400 earning to them.
But as Kyle mentioned they already are on to these losers. But it is always good to protect our community from our side of things as John mentioned here in his post.

I think there are plenty of legit ways. And plenty of honest people who rather try and do things with integrity.
Totally agree Rebecca, fortunately, a lot of the honest ones are here with us. That is why we need to look after our home in WA

This was taken care of by Kyle when I posted about these spammers Beware of New Spammers posing as starter members There was one person involved that created these bogus ones in fact over 400 accounts.

Yes, our system deals with these sorts of spammers automatically. So I wouldn't be too concerned, but I have also cut off this user as you are right, they have paid to have over 400 accounts created.
This can happen, and it does. But we have gotten very good at quarantining these types of users over the years so there is ZERO benefit from trying to do this.

Doesn't make sense to me... Why i should spend time and money to spam a system with no benefit. I'm glad that WA taken care of this because maybe they'll stop now i guess.
Guess they thought they could outsmart the system and try to rip Wa off. Kyle and Carson have been in the game far to long to let such idiots fool them.
There will always be someone who will try to spam over the last few months I have seen certain starters always writing in mainly Indonesian and promoting their poker or other gambling sites along with some other choices.
But they get caught as well as many members are here to look after WA
