If you didn't see yesterdays post, then there's a good chance you'll think I've lost the plot, or at the very least my calendar. Neither is true, 'Happy new December the start of your 2020' is the official start of my pre-new year, new year. That's right, I'm doing now, rather than waiting a whole month to start stuff, what a waste. If you'd like enlightenment without candles, incense and soft ambient music, then you can read yesterdays post here.

So, a chance to get ahead, bonus time. Some of you will have read the post and thought 'That's a great idea' then upon waking to a Sunday morning of normality, have decided not to bother and that tomorrow will do. Before you know it a week has gone by and you've forgotten all about it. The January the 1st will arrive and the same thoughts will surface after 3 hours sleep and faced with a house that has been devastated.

Well, I can do nothing about that, that's down to you and it's all good either way. I, however, have started as I mean to go on. The first job of the day, after the cursory dog walking, was to try once again to install Windows 10 on my fast declining PC, which is running Windows 7. Two things, in case you were unaware. Windows 7 is no longer supported, no updates, no security patches, nothing, thanks Bill. For a year or so you could get a free upgrade to '10' and then it seemed to disappear. You could buy it or do a dodgy download, neither appealing or advisable, respectively.

There is a third alternative, courtesy of 'Bill and the Soft Micro's'. Rather than a long-winded explanation, just go onto the Microsoft website and search for 'Media Creation Tool' Follow the simple (No, they really are) instructions and before you know it, you'll be running Windows 10.

You may be wondering why it's taken me so long to do this myself ? Well, it's not my first

rodeo. Me and 'installation' are old friends that have done this dance many times previous. I was aware that the process might take an hour or more and after the last skirmish, which I lost, I wasn't holding my breath. So, I set about busying myself with some long awaited sorting of paperwork and writing of this post, long-hand. Most beneficial.

After we had reached 52% 'updating' my computer froze. I duly turned it on and off and we resumed our sparring. Updates went to 89% and I mistakenly allowed myself a smirk, it didn't last long though. Froze for the last time and we left the dance floor. I returned to my table and smiled at Windows 7, ever faithful and non-judgemental to my dalliances.

Not the best start to the day but it was a start, nonetheless. We take it in our stride and keep on moving.

If you haven't started your new year yet, there's still time. What ever you have lined up for next month, have a look at it now, see if there's anything you can make an inroad into. It might just even be one thing but by the time you get to January, if you've done it every day, then you'll have done it thirty times. Thirty little bonuses, gifts to yourself, if you prefer.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Have yourselves a sparkling Sunday.

Good old windows 7 - probably the best version ever. I updated my laptop to windows 10 last year and now there’s not enough memory left on the hard drive to run any further updates.😳
Anyway, I had a productive first day of my 13 month year today, so thanks for that.👍

You're welcome Dave. I recently downloaded a premium cleaner and it reckons it can give me 18GB back from Windows installation files, risky though, I might look for a cheap NAS box and put all the hradrives in that and start afresh.

Good evening Twack,

I am still on Windows 7. When I got my second hand little Lenovo that was the reason why I got a second hand. You could only buy a new one with Windows 10. I must say I am not looking forward to the change.

Greetings from the south of Spain,
Taetske

Hi Taetske.
I guess it's just what is familiar. Once I had used 10 for a while I actually preferred it to 7, then I had to do a hard drive swap on a different PC and now it's not happy trying to upgrade. This drive is filling up so I'll try again with a new one.
My favourite for many years was XP and before that 98, so it's just getting past that initial stage I suppose.

Yes I’m writing from yesterday to a year from now
Thanks for your inspiration
Tim

Awesome and you're very welcome Tim. We've got something going on.

I've already started using a new term "13-month long year" :)
I've started my first day of this special year full of energy probably because I've purchase the yearly membership yesterday.
So I'm enjoying writing and preparing pins, commenting and all sorts.
Easy peasy, today has been so far.

That's the way Lenka, what a start. It's all added bonus time in my eyes. By the time we get to the beginning of 2020 we will be flying. Following you back on Pinterest, thank you for that.

Thank you too!

Always welcome.
