Dear community of WA,
Earlier today there was a quite provocative blog post by a (former) member.
I believe the post and the member now has been removed, as he was very negative towards WA and actually called some of the top achievers and even Kyle and Carson liars and other nasty stuff.
Now of course he wasn't right in those accusations. We all know that they and WA is as far from a scam as you can get. So, it was probably a good thing that he left.
But this guy was talking about PBNs and backlinks.

Short version, he said WA is a big lie denying backlinks work and we were all losers just hanging out here and never getting any further than small commissions and pocket money. The big money was in PBNs.
This guy's gone, and that's good. The post made me doubt, for one second, the effect of creating quality content in Google rankings. There was a quick scheme.
Red alert.
These "butterflies" as I understand it so far, are part of what makes it relatively hard to stay focused and succeed in online marketing. There's always going to be other ways of doing things, other promising tactics, other shiny objects glimmering in the horizon, distracting you from the perhaps most important task, which is perserverance and sticking to your path or game plan.

This guy made me realise how lucky we are to be here and surround ourselves with positive, likeminded, great people who all have the opportunity to succeed!

As for the rest of us, let's stay focused and work hard towards our goals, whatever they might be! We will succeed, eventually. Certainly months, maybe years from now, depending on your goals. Hang in there :)))

I read his post. It was not just the vitriol of the guy toward WA that annoyed me, but the language used toward Kyle, Carson, Jay and Nathaniel.
You can hold an opinion, but how you share it will demonstrate the calibre of your personal value system. If your research PBNs, they are not for the newbies, the faint-hearted or those who want to stay on the good side of Google. Many people have been burned by Google's view of PBNs.
I love what I have learned here and the respect and support shown me since joining in March 2015, has been outstanding. We aren't competing with each other here, just supporting and empowering.

The guy obviously was not pleased with his results using the methods that Kyle and Carson advocate. It is true that there are many ways to attack the online marketing world, and there are shortcuts that will push you ahead quicker than the tried and true methods that WA teaches...
It is a constant battle to get the traffic to your site, and with ever more people coming into the online marketing, you need to be looking at the latest and greatest, if nothing more than to see what others are doing...Nothing wrong with that...
My guess is that this guy experienced some short term gains from the PBN world, and has become a convert (seemed pretty obvious) and proclaims this method as the holy grail...The problem is that people have been burned in the past with the method he advocates (using PBNs) and likely will again...
The thing is these methods are not so simple...As with PPC. sophisticated methods to get traffic/authority using PBNs, an amateur is almost certain to fail, because you have to know what you are doing, and the pitfalls so you can avoid disaster...
The learned person may be able to make these methods work, but it requires in depth research and practice...Not for the weekend warrior...What you learn here will not get you in trouble, and it will not at some point cause you to lose all of your traffic because of an algorithm change...
Wealthy Afiliate, Kyle and Carson, and the members here for the most part represent the more conservative approach that is going to get you success over time...There is a value in this approach I think, and not to be out of hand discarded as that disgruntled former member obviously has...
I do believe that a more even handed and objective approach by this person may have been to express his opiniion that PBNs are another option, which is the case...
The idea itself of looking at what is going on around you to see what the market is doing is not bad, but I think as you do this you have to evaluate and see if it can work for you, as well as realizing what the consequences may be down the road...

What WA teaches us is to create quality content. Earning money will come after that. This guy only wanted to earn money, he didn't bother creating useful content. Even if it works, it's not the right way to start an online business, that's for sure.
Well, he's probably frustrated with the slowness of making money. I've felt that way many times myself, but the answer to making money quicker isn't by signing up to a scam.

Well, if you look at the lingo "PBNs which are Personal Blog Network Websites" and google it, you will find that there is a website online called PBN Personal Blog Networks.....Trying to sell a $597 per MONTH system.
I could be wrong, but I think it might be someone affiliated or whatever coming here to trash WA on purpose.
It is easy for trolls and infiltrators to get in here because they can just sign up for free and spout off right away. No need to be rattled by these false claims. We all know WA is a good place, the best really, with sound training.
Fortunately, WA is good about removing these posts ASAP from the community.
He was suggesting a company called "Source Wave", which is apparently run by SEO gurus making over 100k per month from their SEO tactics, yet these same SEO gods can be bothered setting up a website to teach others their magical SEO tricks to 100k per month for a measly $47 per month membership fee.
Why would these gurus, supposedly making that much money, be bothered?
Because they are making their money from selling their BS SEO tactics and not from the SEO itself!

Yeah. I figured it was something like that, but I was guessing because I never saw original post, because it was removed before I read this one.
Yeah - I caught that blog and wish I hadn't. Glad it was taken down as things like that can be depressing for people to read when they are all working so hard on their web-sites here....
I think it upset quite a few people....and that was probably what the writer intended....but hopefully we have seen the back of him....

I really want to make money at some point, but if I never make a dime the benefit of being a member here far outweighs the cost. I'm a newbie and have no idea what a backlink or PBN is, and from the comments I've been reading I don't think I want to. Hope all you have a wonderful and productive day.

Yes I agree. So many benefits of being with WA.
Then there might be other ways of doing things, I don't really know because i'm a newbie, too. I'll stick with the good guys to begin with, and learn the basics.
It's like, if you want to learn how to drive a car, do not start with a Formula 1 car or Koenigsegg.. you start out with a car you actually can master..and the lessons in here are, speaking for myself, enough for me for a long time of learning..perhaps sometime in the future, I will master it all and then I can consider other things.
This community is great. The founders are so genuine and of an excellent moral stature. We have a lot to thank them for. And the price is not much compared to what is possible to achieve.
