How to Apply Your New Knowledge to Your Own Web Development

Now, that you have seen how you can view any changes done in the HTML code without having to first save your website, you can easily apply your new knowledge to making edits in your own website.

Whenever you want to make changes to your website which you cannot do within the realm of your particular theme, you will need to resort to making changes to the HTML code and yes, that can be tricky if you do not know what you are doing.

With this tool, you can play around all you want with the HTML and CSS and view those changes of how they would appear on your website. Once you are able to discover the changes needed, just copy and past the code into your WordPress Dashboard area.

NOTE: That may be a little tricky too because of the differences in the layout of how Firebug displays the HTML vs. how WordPress displays the HTML code, but if you are careful and pay close attention, this can be an awesome tool.

For a basic tutorial on HTML and CSS: check out my other training on those two topics starting first with the HTML tutorial and then follow up with the CSS tutorial.

Thank you Stephanie.
I have saved all of this, because as you know, I know nothing about HTML. :(
Be sure that I will come hollering if I get stuck one day.
I appreciate all your valuable tips and training.

Okay here is a dumb question. How do you switch over to Firefox browser?

Hi...I am sorry. I should have included that in the training. Go here to download Firefox

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

But I think you can also use Firebug in other browsers too. If you prefer Google Chrome is the download page:

And here is a download for IE:

Thank you Linda. I think it has potential to help those who do not want to take the risk of breaking their website by making a change in HTML. This way, they can create a draft form of what the changes will look like.

Will certainly look at this one. (Actually a firebug is someone who starts all these nasty bushfires in Oz!)

Do you the movie Wizard of Oz Helen? I don't remember anything called firebugs, but then again it has been a long time since I have seen the movie.
