The Old Ways Still Work
I like the idea of having a dedicated Facebook page on my website because it is simple and shows that you have put some thought into the process and are putting visitors needs first.
These ‘subscriptions’ (or followers) should be natural and not forced. Don’t do ‘in your face’ advertising to get followers, I suggest that every now and again (when you are writing an article or review) just make a little comment which is internally hyperlinked to your dedicated Facebook page or you can link them directly to your Facebook site.
Personally, I prefer to keep them on my website for as long as possible and to put the links toward the bottom of the page so they can read the article first.
As you can see in the picture (at the time of writing this) I do not have any of these links to Facebook. But if you go onto my website now, you will see that I am starting to slot them in. The Facebook experiment has begun!
Using Facebook through your website
When you create a new article or make any other changes to your website, get into the habit of creating a Facebook post. This should consist of:
- A picture that represents the article
- A very brief, enticing summary of what the article is about
- Something else to look forward to in the near future
See example below:
If you would like more detailed information about using Facebook then Kyle (WA founder) has created a training session in which he talks about using the 6 engaging aspects that will lead to activity. But again, he highlights the fact that you shouldn’t spend too much of your time working on facebook.
