Pink

Characteristics and associations of the color pink.

Pink is derived from the French word for rose and obviously used for girl babies. In addition, it is a color used as a symbol of homosexuality. Below the associations as described in the color psychology.

Positive associations:

Innocence
Softness
Health
Morals
Femininity
Lively
Sensual

Girlish
Flexibility

Negative associations:

Materialism
Uncertainty
Devoted
Predominant
Impatient
Deceptive
Unrealistic
Immature

Pink and personal taste
Generally, people with a preference for pink are emotional set, they often sacrifice themselves for others. Generally quite balanced and warm people as long as they are not restricted in their freedom.
Beautiful effects are often achieved by combining a more 'boyish' blue color and create a nice contrast.

Another reason for the use of pink can be to emphasize a girlish aspect, undoubtedly the use of pink in the Barbie logo.

Tips for using pink on your website

On your website pink can be used to put accents to the matter, it's a color that strongly attracts attention.
Many symbolisms are hidden behind the color to pink, on the one hand very suitable for use on baby sites, sites about homosexuality or sites that want to explicitly position themselves as outsider. On the other hand you have to be very careful, because some people experience too much symbolism as generalizing and will be deterred.

Only use pink particularly to create an certain atmosphere or to make a statement, because the term functional pink is not very convincing.

I like all the thought and work you put into this Loes. My site is full of pink for babies. One of my goals is to learn how to code so I can change colors in the theme where I want to do so. I also need to spend time working on pictures to help them stand out where needed and just support if that is the purpose.

Good article and thanks for this link, very useful. It seems to me there was a fashion about 10 years ago to have black background sites. I see much less of that now- white as a background seems to predominate.

Nice job in training, Loes. I have a scrapbooking site and it's FULL of colors -- mostly muted red. I'm not sure what that means in your scheme of analysis. LOL. Of course today, I'm fighting with a new version of the theme. UGH.
