Psychology of Colors on your Website

Consciously and unconsciously colors play a big role in our perception. The impact of colors are determined by our cultural and religious background and the role of the colors in it. There is also the neurological aspect: different colors affect different parts of your brain and thus activate parts of the brain that affect your actions.

This means that when you create a website, you need to think in advance what you want to achieve on your website with colors. Do you want to achieve a certain state of mind to in your visitor or do you use the colors to radiate certain things.

Colors in your logo and header

Start your website with a new logo and enter your own developed header. A renowned business has its own logo, as remembrance to its costumers. With a printable version for future business correspondence. Therefore see what effect your logo has on paper. Remember that the use of multiple colors also means that your prints may be more expensive than if you use one color in your logo.

Loes, this was such a good and colorful lesson, I really enjoyed it, thank you!

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

p.s. as an afterthought, looking at my websites, one with a blue and the other with a more green background photo, I think that choice was not bad.

Hi Loes, Very interesting, I have studied colours in relation to marketing. The emotional effect of colours is very interesting. They say all the big organisations use blue as it generates the trust emotion. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Kev

There I have it Loes!
Back then I bookmarked it, although I do know about colors, their numerous meanings etc, due to my own holistic work.
However, The part about psychology of colors in marketing, back then, has caught my eye and that's why I saved it.

Today, working again on one of my videos, using PP, I remembered your training about colors.

Yay, very handy indeed. Thanks Loes, so appreciated. :)

Hello Loes
This is excellent! I love the colour red, but as you say - it is good for adding emphasis, rather than an all-over colour. I see I am mostly a blue person with tinges of red - does that make me purple?:-)
How are you getting on? Haven't seen you for a little while!
Cheers

I have to come back when I have more time to finish all 9 pages. I had to pounce up to 6 of 9 so I could read your purple scoop. I have been thinking more seriously on a brand for my FDTV site lately.

I have found a ton of inspiration on my current trip to Mexico so hopefully I'll be taking your good advice sooner rather than later! Thank you Loes!

Reply
Loes Premium
Hi Zusanna, combination is great, you used ColorCombo382, nice combo, just looking a bit pale, did you use #772877 for the violet? Purple/violet sends out riches http://www.colorcombos.com/color-schemes/382/ColorCombo382.html, I don't know if your circled backgroud and the jumping letters will be giving you businesslike authority in the pockets full of money business though, time will tell, wishing you a lot of success

I agree with you the color is a bit pale. I've changed it for slightly for darker and it looks better. I will play with the background image and I will see what I'm gonna come up with. I will share it later... Thank you fro the advice!

Hey Leos,

This tutorial is going to make you money here. It's that good. Color is one of the more important (yet overlooked) aspects of design. As an addition, I often use http://www.colorcombos.com when I need to figure out which colors to match on my website.

Awesome job!

Jim

Great overview of colors....very interesting....I knew about purple as mystical, but not expensive....wonder if I should change my color background at least to a grey type pattern..Lol....If you notice laptop ads, the pic is usually a purple or blue type color....very interesting. Thanks for putting this up, very informative. :))

I like all the thought and work you put into this Loes. My site is full of pink for babies. One of my goals is to learn how to code so I can change colors in the theme where I want to do so. I also need to spend time working on pictures to help them stand out where needed and just support if that is the purpose.

Good article and thanks for this link, very useful. It seems to me there was a fashion about 10 years ago to have black background sites. I see much less of that now- white as a background seems to predominate.

Nice job in training, Loes. I have a scrapbooking site and it's FULL of colors -- mostly muted red. I'm not sure what that means in your scheme of analysis. LOL. Of course today, I'm fighting with a new version of the theme. UGH.
