You can follow in the footsteps of many others and use one of these 5 formulas that work.

  1. Ask a question and solve a problem
If readers can relate to the question you have asked in your headline, they will read further to see what answers you have given. Use the 5 w words: who, what, when, where, why - these are trigger words that stimulate the curiosity of readers.

  2. Make a statement and address the reader directly

  3. Use numbers and lists
You may wonder why so many copywriters use numbers in their headlines. It’s because they work. They tell your audience you have something specific, concrete and real to offer them.

Here are some other useful words you can use to start lists: Tips, tricks, reasons, strategies, facts, secrets, ideas, methods, techniques.

  4. Use the “how to” concept
People also continue to use this concept over and over again because people respond to it. 'How to ' posts are valued because they are useful, often offering step-by-step instructional content. However, starting all your articles with 'how to' can get really boring, so come up with fresh ways to use the concept.

  5. Make a promise
Promise your reader something of value and then make sure that you deliver what you promised.

When writing a headline, a number of the above tactics can be used together.
Jeff Goins of goinswriter.com offers this formula:
Number or trigger word + adjective + keyword + promise.
HOW TO EFFORTLESSLY SELL YOUR HOME IN 24 HOURS

In this example, the keyword ‘sell your home’ is made more clickable by adding the trigger words ‘how to’, the adjective ‘effortlessly’and a promise that it will be sold quickly.
