There are many places on Google Plus to find followers. On the Home Page Feed, within targeted Google Communities and other places (will cover this in my Part 2 training). You can also find followers from your very own posts that you shared with the Public and Extended Circles share to settings I mentioned on Page 1 of this training. I’ll explain how below.

FIND FOLLOWERS FROM YOUR POSTS

In the top right corner of every post on Google Plus, even posts that are not your own, you will see a down pointing arrow when you mouse-over the area, see above image. When you click on it a menu will appear with different actions you can do with that post, see below image.

As you can see there are a lot of things you can do with a post on Google+. But for the sake of being simple and relevant for finding followers, I will only be concentrating on the top two selections. “Pin Post” is a new feature in Google+ that allows you to pin any and only one of your posts to the top of your profile page. So if you want one post to get the most exposure, you can pin it.

But if you want to find followers from your own post you will want to select “View Post Activity” and obviously you would need to have activity on the post to see this selection option. When you click to view the post activity, the entire post will flip over to reveal the activity on the back, see below image.

On this particular post, which is one of my random non-niche posts, it shows that I have 8 people who liked it by giving it a +1, 2 people who shared it, and I have 3 comments (I was one of those who posted a comment). The stats also track your activity too.

I then will take my mouse pointer and point to each name. If I am already following that person it will display the name of the circle they are in. If I am not already following them it will display the + Add box as seen in the image above. I would then point to that + Add box and my Circle menu will appear so I can place that person in the appropriate circle and send them a follow request, see below image.

After you send the follow request all you have to do is wait and hopefully they will follow you back. Like I said earlier, if you have a variety of interesting posts on your profile and not just posts from your niche website, most people will follow you back. As the saying goes, “variety is the spice of life.” Give people a reason to follow you.

When someone does follow you back or one of them shares something with you, a red circle notification with a number will appear in the upper right corner of all Google screens, see below image. Click on it and you can see what the notifications are all about. You do not have to be inside your Google+ account to do this.

There are also other ways to seek out potential followers on Google+ but so as not to confuse you with more information, I will discuss these in my Part 2 of this Google Plus training. The information I have provided here in Part 1 is enough to get you on your way to building up and posting to your profile. The more followers you have the better chance you will get more traffic to your website.

I hope you have enjoyed this part of the training and if you have please remember to click the green “Like This” button as well as share this on social media. If you have any questions or comments on the training you have just read, please leave them below. You may also want to bookmark this training for future reference.

Thank you Ralph. Google+ is the one network I spent a lot of time learning about and building up ever since I learned from Kyle that it would help my Google rankings with my websites.

Though the Authorship aspect of Google+ is no more, it is still helpful in building up author rank and giving Google a way to better connect my Google+ profile to my website.

Thank you Brian. Google+ is probably the one social network I know the most about and has helped my website rankings the most.

Thanks for sharing this. I may be in the minority, but I prefer the written tutorials with images as opposed to video. This way I can read at my own pace without having to constantly pause and go back in the video. And I can read when my kids are around, its much harder to watch a video with them yelling in the background.

Quick question about adding links. I just paste my link right where I type my description and then the link is automatically generated to pull up my site. Is it better to actually manually attach the link they way you do?

Are you saying that you paste your link into the area where you are typing up your description? If yes, though you could still do that, it is better for SEO rankings to place it with the Link attachment.

I used to do it the way you are doing it but later found out in a Google community that you should only do it that way when you post a picture.

When you are posting just the link like I did in this training, you should use the Link attachment so that it passes some "link juice" for better rankings.
