Let's Discuss Plugins

Firstly, what is a Plugin? Plugins are additional features that enhance your website so that you can have it function better and accomplish what you want it to do.

Now there are so many Plugins in WordPress, you could end up having super plugins, but not all of them are compatible and they will slow your website down, and in some cases even wreck your site!

REMEMBER!: As sure as you breath everyday, make sure you do a BACKUP of your website BEFORE you install ANY Plugins, or any UPDATES of Plugins. This routine task will save you a lot of heartache!

Here it is recommended that you keep your Plugins to a maximum of 5. The less Plugins you have, the quicker your site will load. Having said that, you need to find out what it is you REALLY need in order to optimize your website for the purpose you intend for it to function.

Make sure you take timely note when a Plugin needs to be updated. This is important for bug fixes that have been resolved, keeping viruses at bay, and ensuring that the Plugin functions correctly at all times.

Now that we understand Plugins, let's move on to Site Trust.

Great training Edu, I am afraid my plugins are to much, but that went down after adding the 5th already

Thanks Loes! Glad I was able to assist. Yes, I've read differing opinions on whether it's better to only have 5 or less, or 10 or less.

I think it's dependent on whether they are light to operate or if they slow your website down so much so, that no one wants to wait for them to load.

WA stops at 5 with the % counting, but you need to install more then 5 when you follow the course, so I left this one behind me

Thanks to you also.

I have been through lots of critiques in my design careers; (interior design in school and web design from clients). Good feedback is not subjective comments like "It's too dark". That is a design preference statement. A more constructive statement would be like, "The text color is too hard to read with its background color-there needs to be more contrast".

Something like that about design principles and elements which also include layout, but are not limited to visuals. Even writing can be addressed. One thing I do and catch myself is to use the same words too often. So it can get boring and repetitious to do that and if that were pointed out it would be constructive and helpful to me.

I have seen some unimpressive web designs on the first pages of Google, (not anyone here . . . just when browsing), so I don't think the search engines see design but it is good to pay attention to it anyway, LOL.
