Troubleshooting: Down the Rabbit Hole Mary and Phililp Go But Don't Follow Us!

1. Make sure you are in Account Settings and not in Property Settings, this is about Acceptance to Data Processing Terms Amendment, if you find yourself in User and Event Data Retention then you've gone down the wrong road earlier on, ahem, like I did.

2. Be sure to click Review Amendment before you click Save.

Do NOT go straight to Save, which actually the page sort of looks set up to do and I did it. It will give you a false Success reading.

i.e. DON'T DO THIS!

Notice how easy it is to go astray here and head straight for the big bright blue button 'save' but that is one of the misdirections here, skim readers like me not only hit that first but guess what - a big Success box flashes up telling me I've done it!! No!

Take a look at that 'has not been accepted' in bold writing there, that will remain till you click on Review Amendment, it is so easy to miss that bold writing and the faded out gray box and trip over those Manage DPA details in the middle with their shiny live blue writing which don't belong to this step at all! Chaos - hey Google Analytics, maybe ask us next time you are designing directions?!

Going the wrong way lol!

Bearing in mind somewhere else in cyber space at the exact same time Philip was describing it was not letting him Save and they were asking him for details, wtf, and he had to hit that amendment button and then was able to click save and got a date pop up. But I was not being asked for details, I had not entered my address earlier on like he did and it was letting me hit it and telling me SUCCESS, though I didn't know it was a false Success ready so what Philip was saying did not register as applicable to me, especially as he was heading down a couple of other wrong turns with dpa details and property settings. But not his fault, as they stuck that manage details thing in entirely the wrong location too....crikey, haven't we've all better things to be doing!!

Thanks MozMary. Does this apply to me, I am in the US and I do not promote products outside of US.

GDPR does apply to the US and other non-european countries, because traffic is global including europe for most websites

go into your analytics admin and follow through, if those instructions are there then click them - if they are not then let us know

All of their instructions were a bit muddy, so on the page where we fill in contact details they say 'all european economic area AND anyone the regulation reaches' see how muddy that is - because GDPR reaches everyone, yet they did not commit themselves

if there is a button in your analytics asking you to accept then do it, if not then fine - but go in and look

If we have not received this notice should we just go ahead and do this?

yes, if you have google analytics just log in and go ahead to admin and follow those instructions, you'll see the review and accept button - if they are not there then you'll know you don't have to do anything - let us know

emails can get lost in spam folders sometimes

MozMary,
Thank you so much for taking your time to make this tutorial very simple and clear.
By the way, I've not done anything for the GA 360 Suite for fear of falling into errors.

You may kindly do one for beginners in your next tutorial.

Thank you so much for sharing this useful stuff on GDPR Acceptance.
Cheers!

This is the beginners version, the regular google analytics.

The email they sent out has 360 suite on it but also analytics in the same pathway

if you just follow the login to all website data and admin you'll navigate to the update agreement
