Remember the official google analytics email was in two parts:
''Step 2 Provide your legal entity and contact details for notifications we may need to send under the GDPR''
They are now telling us that if we accept the Data Processing Terms, which they just told us was mandatory and which we've just completed, we have to provide them with contact details for each website we own as in name, email, and postal address. By 'we' the teeny weeny weeny writing means everyone in the European Economic Area AND those in the scope of the European General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR]
Step 2.1 Click MANAGE DPA DETAILS
Step 2.1 Two empty boxes have opened up, in the second box Contacts you click the plus sign in the top right corner and it will open up for you to fill in your name, email, postal address. And you must do this for every one of your websites.
And that should be you finished step 1 and 2 of this google ammendment.
Avoiding Going Down the Rabbit Hole:
I showed you to go straight to the second box, but this is yet another place where things could get a bit fuzzy and another potential rabbit hole but we navigate towards Primary Contact. Otherwise we get lost in their definitions and options and blurbs, which don't really apply to us:
As we can see they have 4 types of contact details listed in their definitions, when we click manage DPA details only two of these boxes show up:
- Legal Entity
- and Primary Contact
And you can read in the tiny writing of the first box that Legal Entity does not really apply to most bloggers, it is for a company with a registered name used for legal interactions.
They also hit us with a blurb on optional linking to an organization, we have skipped that too. That is what I have circled in the first box and put a question mark and exclamation mark beside it to highlight it is saying 'if' ...
**I'm hearing people think completing this step and updating their privacy policy gets them GDPR compliant but there are a few more steps as outlined in the summary here https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/mozmary/blog/summary-of-gdpr....
Thank you so much for taking your time to make this tutorial very simple and clear.
By the way, I've not done anything for the GA 360 Suite for fear of falling into errors.
You may kindly do one for beginners in your next tutorial.
Thank you so much for sharing this useful stuff on GDPR Acceptance.
Cheers!
