Getting Google’s Opinion

Consider the things I’ve pointed out for a second. Isn’t Google the guy we use the most and the guy that ranks our sites for us? Sure there’s yahoo and bing and ask and *draws blanks* yeah there’s a ton of them, but who uses those anyway? Everyone I know uses Google, and I’m willing to bet that you do too. Bearing that in mind, I’d say that we’re trying to impress Google more than Yahoo.

When I’m choosing a keyword that I’m going to attempt to rank on Google, I want the best guarantee that Google’s going to like my keyword, so what do I do? I ask him! (Warning: I will be referring to Google as a “him”). That’s right, what better insurance policy is there than asking the big G himself? To do this I use the Google keyword tool. To find this, you can go to Google and type in “keyword tool” once you do it should be the first one and you’ll see this handsome devil.

Or if you’re feeling rather technological you can click on this wonderful, glowing, blue link.

I know it’s long, don’t make fun. I don’t feel like cloaking a link in a training module.

Once you have found the keyword(s) that fit your criteria you should check them using only "exact" for a more accurate view of searches and competition.

That's probably true, but I don't usually go back and recheck after I find my criteria. is that something that you think I should add to the training?

Exactly, the only way I truly gauge a keyword I am going to use is exact match. Good point.
